A special flight carrying around 200 passengers from Jeddah landed in Ahmedabad amid ongoing unrest in West Asia following Iranian strikes targeting Gulf nations.

Scenes of jubilation emerged at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport as families reunited after spending nights in fear and panic. With tears in their eyes and smiles on their lips, family members embraced each other upon arriving in their motherland.

An IndiGo flight that left for Jeddah from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport on Tuesday morning, March 3, returned by late night, carrying around 200 Indian citizens.

Earlier, in a post on ‘X’, the airline announced, “As part of our efforts to progressively normalize our operations between Saudi Arabia and India, we will be operating four dedicated flights from Jeddah tomorrow, 3rd March 2026, to:  Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Ahmedabad".

Meanwhile, other airlines including Air India and Emirates have also initiated efforts to evacuate Indian passengers from Gulf nations.

On Tuesday, Air India welcomed passengers and crew arriving from Dubai at Indira Gandhi International Airport, marking the first international arrival by an Indian carrier into the capital.

Dubai Airports also confirmed that limited operations resumed on the evening of March 2 at Dubai International Airport and Al Maktoum International Airport.

The disruption and airspace restrictions came after coordinated US and Israeli strikes on Iran on February 28, after which Tehran initiated attacks against Gulf nations, calling them “legitimate targets", pushing the region into a renewed military conflict and triggering widespread flight cancellations.
