BJP leader Vinoj P Selvam on Tuesday shared a video showing the Joint Secretary of the Thavatcha East District, Veera, allegedly accepting a bribe, as Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay’s call against corruption from the Karur rally went viral.
Sharing the alleged bribery video on X, Selvam wrote, “A video has surfaced showing Veera, the Joint Secretary of the Thavatcha East District, accepting a bribe of Rs. 1.30 lakh from a government contractor, which has exposed the true face of Thavatcha."

The words of the pure power owner, CM Vijay, who said, “We will not touch the people’s money," come to mind. Wearing the mask of pure power, everything done is nothing but theft work. Some people make excuses, saying it takes at least 6 months for newcomers to learn administration. But it doesn’t take that much time to steal!!" he added.
The video was shared at a time when Vijay’s footage from the Karur rally, in which he took a stern stand against corruption, went viral.
Vijay’s ‘No Corruption’ Call In Karur
Speaking at the Karur rally on July 10, Vijay took a stern stand against corruption and said that he won’t allow anyone, who is either taking bribes or misusing their power, to continue such acts.
He appealed to the people to refuse to pay any bribes if asked by the officials. The chief minister reassured the public that he stands with them and asked them to firmly say “no" if asked to pay a bribe.
“When someone asks you for a bribe, tell them directly that you won’t give it. I will be with you. Even after that if someone forces you, tell them, ‘our son, our brother, our Vijay is the one ruling this state.’ Tell them very strongly," Vijay said at the rally.
“When you are with me, not a single person involved in corruption, taking bribes or misusing power will be able to continue such acts," he further added.
TVK Faces Corruption Allegations
Apart from the BJP, senior DMK leader T K S Elangovan also accused the TVK government of indulging in corruption.
Hinting at internal discord within TVK, Elangovan claimed that a lawyer associated with the party had moved court, alleging that a senior leader and the party’s general secretary accepted bribes ranging from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 20 lakh in exchange for appointing party lawyers.
“We didn’t make these allegations; a lawyer from their own party went to court. If you ask Vijay about this, he might have an answer," Elangovan said, news agency PTI reported.
