UP School Teacher Beats Class 2 Boy '150 Times' With Stick For Not Completing Homework

A 10-year-old boy was allegedly beaten around 150 times with a stick by his teacher in Gonda for failing to complete his homework.

A school teacher in Uttar Pradesh’s Gonda district has been booked for allegedly beating a student with a stick 150 times for not completing his homework, leaving visible injury marks on the child’s body.

A 10-year-old boy, identified as Prakhar Singh, was assaulted by his English teacher in a school in the Karnailganj area after he failed to finish his homework, reported India Today. The child’s father filed a complaint, saying the teacher thrashed the boy ‘150 times’ with a stick.

The Class 2 student’s father said he returned home limping, and his legs bore injury marks after the assault. The father also alleged that his son was warned not to tell anyone about the assault, offered biscuits as an incentive to stay silent, and threatened with further beatings if he reported it.

After the complaint, the school principal said the teacher had been dismissed with immediate effect. “We removed the English teacher from service as soon as the matter came to our notice," he was quoted as saying by India Today.

Circle Officer Karnailganj, Abhishek Dabacha, confirmed that a case has been registered against the teacher under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). “Special legal action is being taken in the matter," he said. Legal proceedings have been initiated against the teacher.

In a separate case from Uttar Pradesh, a man allegedly attacked a former teacher in Mainpuri after years of stalking and sexually harassing her. The woman is currently under treatment at a private hospital in Agra for specialised treatment after the attack on January 20, according to police.

Police said the accused, Akhand Pratap (24), had started harassing her about three years ago when he was in Class 12 at a private school on Agra Road, forcing her to leave the teaching job at the time and join another private institution.

NDTV quoted the police saying the woman on January 20 was on her way to tutor a student when Pratap intercepted her and tried to take her into a lane. He then allegedly tried to assault her, but when she resisted, he attacked the woman with a sharp object cutting off both of her lips.
