Congress leaders Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Rahul Gandhi shared heartfelt messages for their mother, Sonia Gandhi, on the occasion of Mother’s Day on Sunday.

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra posted an emotional message on Instagram along with a video featuring moments spent with her mother over the years. Calling Sonia Gandhi her source of strength, she wrote, “A mother’s love is our first strength. Happy Mother’s Day."

In her note, Priyanka said she had learnt how to face challenges and difficulties from her mother. In the video, she also described their bond as one built on friendship, saying that the two share a close and supportive relationship.

The leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, also marked the occasion with a warm tribute to Sonia Gandhi.

Sharing a photograph of him hugging his mother, he wrote, “A mother is our first teacher and also our first friend. She is affection, sacrifice, compassion and love, a mother’s hand on our head is the greatest strength in the world. On the beautiful occasion of Mother’s Day, I bow down to all mothers across the world."
