Shah Rukh Khan and Akshay Kumar recently shared the stage at the Filmfare Awards.
It’s been nearly a month since Aryan Khan’s directorial debut series, The Ba***ds of Bollywood, premiered on Netflix, and the buzz around it refuses to die down. While the show has received mixed reactions, it continues to be one of the most discussed releases of the year. Now, even Akshay Kumar has joined the conversation.
During the recently held Filmfare Awards, where Akshay Kumar and Shah Rukh Khan shared the stage, the two superstars engaged in a light-hearted yet thoughtful exchange that quickly went viral. During their playful banter, Shah Rukh asked Akshay if there was one piece of advice he would like to give to newcomers in the industry. He was quoted saying, “I want to say just one thing to all the newcomers and the upcoming newcomers that never sign a 3-film deal with any producer.”
He went on to add, “You must have seen The Ba***ds of Bollywood and what our hero had to go through. The film makes it clear what a debutant should and should not do. Do not sign a 3-movie deal. Give your debutant freedom, allow them to run away. As it is said that ‘let them free, if they belong to you, they will come back’.” Akshay further said, “I always say money attracts money, and similarly, work attracts money. No work is big or small. It happens at times that I like the story of a film, but my role is small, but I still do that film because I know that the movie is good and I want to be a part of history.”

Bollywood’s tough history with multiple film deals
Bollywood has multiple examples of producers signing actors for multiple film deals that never take off after the first film sinks at the box office. Coincidentally, two of Ba***ds of Bollywood actors had signed 3-film deals that never took off. These include the show’s lead Lakshya and Anya Singh. While Lakshya signed a 3-film deal with Dharma, with Kill being his first film, and two films — Dostana 2 and Bedhadak didn’t materialise. Anya was signed by YRF in 2016 for a three-film deal. Her debut came in 2017 with Qaidi Band, opposite Aadar Jain. Unfortunately, the film sank at the box office, and the other two promised projects never materialised.
Akshay and SRK’s hug
The appearance was especially nostalgic for fans, as Shah Rukh and Akshay have rarely shared screen space. The two previously appeared together in Yash Chopra’s Dil Toh Pagal Hai and have made cameo appearances in each other’s films such as Om Shanti Om and Heyy Babyy. Seeing them together on stage again was a delight for fans, many of whom expressed hope for a future collaboration.
On the work front, Akshay Kumar recently wrapped up shooting for Priyadarshan’s Haiwaan, co-starring Saif Ali Khan, where he reportedly plays a negative role. He was last seen in the courtroom comedy Jolly LLB 3 alongside Arshad Warsi. Shah Rukh Khan, who hosted the Filmfare Awards this year, recently received his first National Award. He is currently filming for King with director Siddharth Anand, and the first look of the film is expected to be unveiled on Shah Rukh’s 60th birthday next month.
