To wrap up their trip in Perth, Western Australia, WWE Raw emanated from the RAC Arena. The show featured fallout from a fun Crown Jewel Premium Live Event that included one of John Cena’s final matches against AJ Styles, two championship bouts, and much more.
Raw was headlined by a No. 1 contender’s match for the World Heavyweight Championship and a shocking moment that no one expected this early, one that is bound to shake up WWE heading into the home stretch of 2025.
So, what were the biggest takeaways? Let’s take a look.
The Vision Turned On Seth Rollins, But Why Now?
The point of The Vision always seemed to be putting over Bron Breakker. He’s been pegged as a future main eventer since arriving on the main roster in 2024, showcasing his highlight-reel spears and a badass charisma that has resonated with fans. It always felt like only a matter of time before he reached that level.
It was expected that Breakker would eventually turn on Rollins, maybe closer to WrestleMania 42 or the night after. But doing it now, on October 13, a good six months before the Grandest Stage of Them All? That’s surprising, to say the least.
Rollins hinted at something earlier in the night, sensing that “something big is on the horizon” in an ominous backstage interview. He admitted he didn’t know what it would be when speaking with Paul Heyman, with whom things had been shaky in recent weeks. Even so, it was hard to anticipate something happening this quickly.
After Breakker and Bronson Reed brutalized CM Punk following his No. 1 contendership win, they turned on Rollins to the shock of everyone watching. Even Heyman appeared stunned, as if he hadn’t seen it coming and wasn’t in on the plan. Breakker convinced Reed after spearing Rollins to side together, and the two proceeded to destroy their now former leader.
It was a definitive statement that The Vision is over, or at least this version of it is. The group never fully found its footing, so perhaps that’s why WWE decided to go in such a drastic direction.
Maybe it all comes down to booking logic. There was never a clear reason why Breakker and Reed aligned with Rollins in the first place. Reed and Rollins had feuded before, and Breakker is a star in his own right. Did they really need Rollins to begin with?
At the same time, Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp reported that Rollins had been seen in a sling over the weekend in Australia. The World Heavyweight Champion defeated Cody Rhodes at Crown Jewel on Saturday.
That could be why the storyline was seemingly expedited.
CM Punk Won A World Title Opportunity. Now What?
CM Punk is back in the mix for the World Heavyweight Championship after defeating Jey Uso and LA Knight in a Triple Threat match. It’s not surprising that WWE would turn to the Second City Saint for another title opportunity to headline a major show, but the timing raises some questions.
Punk’s win came just before The Vision turned on Rollins. It seemed natural for those two to run it back and continue their longstanding feud, but that’s now uncertain because we don’t know where the Architect stands. Could WWE make this an all-babyface title match? Or is Rollins vacating the title due to injury, opening the door for Punk to step in?
It’s hard to know where WWE is heading with this story if Rollins is indeed hurt. Something feels off, and it’s too soon to see the bigger picture. But one thing is clear: there’s more to this than meets the eye.
Dirty Dom Is Becoming Eddie Guerrero, And That’s Great
Sometimes, when a wrestler borrows another wrestler’s gimmick, it can feel obvious, repetitive, and tired. But Dominik Mysterio straight-up using Eddie Guerrero’s tactics to cheat and win matches as a de facto babyface doesn’t fall into that category, and fans don’t seem to care because it’s pretty much perfect.
“Dirty Dom” went to that well in his first match against Rusev, using Guerrero’s signature style to retain his WWE Intercontinental Championship and coming off as a slimy but still fan-favorite babyface. Technically, it wasn’t even the first time he had cheated to win, as he had previously used a metal plate hidden inside his mask, but he doesn’t need that trick anymore if the Guerrero-inspired approach is getting over, which it clearly is.
On the Raw following Crown Jewel, Mysterio doubled down by using the bell ringer’s hammer to cheat in a win over Penta, who is extremely popular with fans, and still received support for it.
It’s becoming clear that Mysterio is WWE’s next big babyface, if he isn’t already. With each of these Guerrero tributes that he is adapting and making his own, it’s clear he is only scratching the surface of his popularity with the audience.
