Thirteen senior students of Government College Kasaragod (GCK) in Kerala have been suspended for allegedly ragging and assaulting a first-year degree student on the college campus on July 13.
According to the complainant, a group of senior students threatened and physically assaulted the first-year-student when he arrived on the campus. The victim later informed his parents, who approached the college principal and lodged a complaint.

Following a preliminary inquiry, the college authorities suspended the 13 students pending further investigation. The college said the complaint was being treated seriously and that further action would be taken based on the findings.
The student has also lodged a complaint with the police.
College authorities reiterated that ragging would not be tolerated on the campus and said measures would be strengthened to ensure the safety of students.
