PM Modi said it was better for Revanth Reddy to join him as Telangana would lose half of what it has if the Centre cooperates with him in the state's development.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday struck a lighter tone with Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy during an event in Hyderabad, urging him to coordinate with the Central government for the state’s development, drawing laughter and cheers from the audience.

PM Modi was addressing the event after inaugurating development projects worth around Rs 9,400 crore at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre (HICC), with Revanth Reddy, Telangana Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla, Union Minister G Kishan Reddy and others in attendance.

“Revanth ji said he won’t discuss political matters, so I won’t do it as well. I will speak on non-political matters. I would like to tell Revanth Reddy that whatever the Government of India has given to Gujarat in the 10 years of rule, I am ready to give to you," PM Modi said.

“However, based on my knowledge, as soon as I do that, what you are currently receiving will be halved. Aap jaha pahuchna chahte hai, waha nahi pahuch payenge. Aur isiliye accha hai mere se hi judo. (You won’t be able to reach where you want to go. So it is better that you join me," he said with a laugh.

Reddy and other guests at the event also started laughing at PM Modi’s remarks amid loud cheers from the audience. Meanwhile, PM Modi promised that the Centre would continue to extend its support to the accelerated development of Telangana, which he said was important in realising the vision of Viksit Bharat.

On the other hand, Revanth Reddy recalled how Gujarat became a role model for the country in development during the 10-year rule of Modi as Chief Minister and wanted the same help to be replicated in Telangana.

“When he is the PM, the people of Telangana have the same hope with me that in the coming 10 years, there will be a Telangana model to reach the 1 trillion economy by 2034," he said.

Modi laid the foundation stone for several projects, including a four-lane National Highway-167 from Gudebellur to Mahabubnagar on the Hyderabad-Panaji Economic Corridor and Zaheerabad Industrial Area in Sangareddy district.
