The airport at Navi Mumbai will help de-congest air traffic

The Adani Airport Holdings Ltd is set to begin Phase 2 construction at the Greenfield Navi Mumbai International Airport post the monsoon this year, the company’s management said citing a strong demand and rapid scale-up across its airports portfolio.

“The second phase of construction will start post-monsoon this year. Already the slots are fully taken up by the airlines at Navi Mumbai airport,” the management said, highlighting the airport’s strategic role as Mumbai’s second aviation hub. The management informed investors recently that the Greenfield Navi Mumbai International Airport commenced operations on December 25 2025, and has already seen strong traction from airline partners. “The Navi Mumbai airport is of strategic importance for Mumbai as a second airport,” the company said, underlining its role in de-congesting air traffic and supporting long-term growth in the Mumbai metropolitan region.

Guwahati terminal

During the quarter under review, Adani Airports commissioned the Navi Mumbai airport and integrated a new terminal at Guwahati, further strengthening its national aviation footprint.  The company’s airports currently account for 23 per cent of India’s passenger traffic and around 29 per cent of air cargo volumes, with the airports business registering over 30 per cent growth, management said.

Operational performance remained steady in the third quarter, with airports handling 24.7 million passengers compared to 24.6 million in the same period last year, while cargo volumes increased to 3.1 lakh metric tonnes from 2.7 lakh metric tonnes a year ago, reflecting continued strength in air freight. The company also said that of the ₹36,000 crore capital expenditure outlined for FY26, a total of ₹25,200 crore has already been incurred by the end of the third quarter.
