Three accused in the AI Summit protest case were arrested in Shimla on Wednesday, following a dramatic standoff between Himachal Pradesh Police and Delhi Police. The accused, Saurabh Singh (28), a resident of Amethi in Uttar Pradesh; Siddharth Avadhoot (33), from Tilak Nagar in Madhya Pradesh; and Arbaaz Khan (24), from Sultanpur in Uttar Pradesh, will be brought to Delhi by 12 pm on Thursday after a local court granted transit remand around 1 am.
The Delhi Police team has since brought the accused to Ambala Civil Hospital, where they are undergoing medical examination before being taken to the national capital.
The high-voltage face-off began around 9 am when a Delhi Police team reached Rohru, about 120 km from Shimla, and detained the three from a resort in Chirgaon Mandali.
After being alerted, Himachal Police set up blockades at multiple locations, stopping Delhi Police vehicles at ISBT Shimla, Shoghi and Dharampur in Solan district. By 4 pm, Shimla Police had taken custody of the accused, who were later produced before a local court.

The matter was first placed before the Chief Judicial Magistrate and later transferred to ACJM-II Judge Ekansh Kapil. After hours of legal arguments, the accused were produced around 1 am at the judge’s residence court.
Himachal Police argued that due legal procedure was not followed during the arrests, while the defence opposed transit remand alleging illegal detention and lack of proper documentation and medical examination.
After hearing objections from both sides, the court granted transit remand to Delhi Police. Advocate Nand Lal Thakur, appearing for Delhi Police, said the accused would now be taken to Delhi and produced before the competent court there. Delhi Police is also transporting a Thar vehicle believed to be linked to the accused.
