Snowstorm warning: travel disruptions likely

These events have been cancelled as US officials have increased warnings for a rapidly developing storm, which is now forecast to dump 1 to 2 feet (30–61 cm) of snow across large parts of the northeastern United States.

The National Weather Service has issued a snowstorm warning for New York City, Long Island, Boston, and coastal areas of New Jersey, Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts.

Flooding is also possible in parts of New York and New Jersey.

Forecasters say the storm may start as rain in some areas, then turn into heavy snow, with the heaviest snowfall expected Sunday night.

Officials have warned that travel could be "hazardous, if not impossible," with the weight of the snow and strong winds likely to cause downed tree branches and power outages.

The storm is expected to reach areas around Washington on Sunday morning, then move toward Philadelphia and New York City before reaching Boston by evening.
