The Trivandrum Chamber of Commerce and Industry has strongly condemned the reported assault on an Uber taxi driver at Kovalam by local taxi operators recently.
“Such acts of violence, intimidation, and unlawful obstruction constitute a serious violation of law, free trade, consumer choice and public order. Incidents of this nature in a prominent tourism and commercial destination like Kovalam are deeply concerning and may adversely affect Kerala’s image, tourism confidence and business environment,” a statement from the chamber said here on Tuesday.
The chamber urged the State government and the State Police Chief to take stringent action against the accused, ensure protection for all legally operating service providers, and implement measures to prevent such incidents in future.
