'Coming To You, Forgive Me': UP Man Posts WhatsApp Status For Dead Wife, Then Hangs Self

A man was found hanging in a hotel in Barabanki after posting a WhatsApp status about his first wife. The investigation is underway.

A 27-year-old man was found hanging in a hotel room in Uttar Pradesh’s Barabanki. The man reportedly posted a WhatsApp status with a photograph of his first wife before allegedly hanging himself to death, police said on Tuesday.

The status read, “I am coming to you. Please forgive me, everyone," according to authorities.

The deceased, identified as Alok Verma from Jalalpur village, was found hanging in a hotel room in the Radhe Nagar locality on Tuesday morning, police stated.

Anshik, the hotel manager, mentioned that Verma had been a frequent guest at the hotel over the past few months, booking a room two to three times a week.

Verma checked into room 110 around 9:30 pm on Monday. However, by 10 am the next morning, he had not opened the door, and staff could hear a mobile phone continuously ringing inside the room.

Despite numerous knocks and calls, there was no response from Verma’s room.

The hotel management subsequently alerted the police. Upon arrival, the police opened the door and found Verma hanging from the ceiling fan with a plastic rope.

Verma’s family members informed police that his first wife had passed away, and he had since remarried. They added that Verma had appeared normal and showed no signs of distress or intentions to harm himself.

City Police Station SHO Sudhir Kumar Singh stated that an investigation is underway and action will be taken based on the post-mortem report.
