Europe Job Scam: How An Andhra Couple Allegedly Duped Hundreds Of Job Seekers Out Of Rs 13 Crore

The couple lured job aspirants with job opportunities in Netherlands, Ireland and Finland, collected Rs 13 lakh per candidate and staged fake online interviews to gain their trust

A couple from Andhra Pradesh has been arrested for allegedly cheating hundreds of job seekers of more than Rs 13 crore by promising employment opportunities in several European countries through a fake overseas recruitment consultancy.

According to police, Musunuri Srinivas and Soujanya, residents of Paidurupadu village near Vijayawada, operated consultancy firms under the name ‘Flying Borders’ and allegedly targeted unemployed youth through social media advertisements, offering jobs in countries including the Netherlands, Ireland, Luxembourg and Finland.

Investigators say the couple advertised skilled, semi-skilled and unskilled jobs on platforms such as YouTube, Instagram and other social media channels, claiming to facilitate overseas placements.

Fake Interviews, Real Money

Police alleged that the accused charged candidates between Rs 8 lakh and Rs 13 lakh, depending on the category of the job offered.

To make the recruitment process appear genuine, the couple allegedly arranged fake online interviews, with members of their own organisation posing as representatives of foreign employers. After the interviews, candidates were reportedly told they had either narrowly missed selection or needed to complete additional formalities, allowing the accused to continue collecting money.

According to investigators, those who questioned the process or demanded refunds had their applications and contact numbers blocked.

Over Rs 13 Crore Collected

Police said the accused collected around Rs 11 crore from nearly 700 victims in Vijayawada and another Rs 2.2 crore from about 130 people in Visakhapatnam.

Officials suspect the fraud extended beyond Andhra Pradesh, with more victims likely linked to the consultancy’s Hyderabad office. The total amount involved could be significantly higher as the investigation continues.

Assets Worth Crores Seized

Based on complaints lodged at the Machavaram and Ajitsingh Nagar police stations, a special police team investigated the case and arrested the couple.

During the probe, police found that the accused had allegedly purchased immovable properties worth Rs 2.25 crore, gold valued at Rs 71.45 lakh, and several luxury vehicles using the fraud money.

Investigators also said the couple had previously been booked in eight cheating cases across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

The accused have been produced before a court and remanded to judicial custody while further investigation is underway.
