Market perspectives by Shiju Koothupalakkal, Senior Manager, Technical Research, PL Capital
“As we have been witnessing, Nifty has been gripped between a tight range since the last one month having the tough resistance hurdle at 24400 zone which desperately needs to be conquered to trigger for a breakout whereas, on the downside, the important zone near 23800 level has been acting as the crucial near-term support which needs to be sustained to maintain the overall bias intact as of now
With the ongoing result season, we expect fluctuations and volatility in the market with currently the Banking sector dragging the market with HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, SBI, Axis Bank and Kotak Bank among the major losers in the category. With the overall bias and sentiment maintained with a cautiously positive approach, we anticipate for the index to be range bound as of now, sustaining the important support zone of 23800 level failing which there can be fresh downward slide with the bias weakening having the next major support positioned near the 23000 and 22400 levels”

Expert Take | Mayank Jain, Market Analyst At Share.market By Phonepe
The Indian pharmaceutical sector is navigating a sharp divergence between robust domestic fundamentals and emerging global trade risks. While the domestic market accelerates toward its strongest annual performance in five years, news of proposed United States trade tariffs on generic medicines sparked immediate selling pressure across major pharma stocks today, testing investor sentiment.
The primary catalyst behind today’s market pullback is a newly proposed US tariff schedule targeting generic drug imports. Under the phased plan, foreign generic medicines will maintain a duty-free window through 2027, followed by a sharp increase to a 100% tariff starting in 2028, with potential escalations to 200% thereafter. This follows earlier policy shifts in April 2026 under Section 232, which imposed 100% tariffs on patented drugs while leaving generics exempt. Because Indian drugmakers export approximately $8 billion to $9 billion worth of products—predominantly generics—to the US annually, the proposal introduces a significant long-term structural risk to export margins.
Despite these immediate international headwinds, the domestic foundation of the sector remains remarkably strong. Driven by expanding demand across major therapeutic segments, the Indian Pharmaceutical Market is projected to grow 11.3% in 2026—a notable acceleration from the 8.1% recorded in 2025. Looking further out, the domestic market is on track to expand from $60.3 billion in 2026 to $79.7 billion by 2031, providing a solid growth buffer against foreign policy shifts.
From a technical perspective, the sector’s overall financial health reflects this underlying domestic momentum. The Nifty Pharma Index continues to hold a healthy long-term uptrend, trading near the 25,740 to 25,800 range—well above its 50-day moving average of 24,800 and 200-day moving average of 23,100, and within striking distance of its 52-week high of 26,135.
Crucially, the two-year grace period before the US generic tariffs take effect offers Indian drugmakers a vital operational runway. this window gives companies sufficient time to realign global supply chains, renegotiate distribution contracts, or establish local manufacturing capabilities directly within the US. Additionally, export diversification is gaining momentum through the newly effective India-UK Free Trade Agreement, which removes import duties on Indian pharmaceuticals entering the UK market and is expected to drive a 8% to 10% boost in UK-bound exports next year.
While policy uncertainties surrounding US trade may introduce short-term volatility, the sector’s broader trajectory remains anchored in solid fundamentals. Companies holding strong domestic market share, active raw-material manufacturing bases, and advanced pipelines in novel formulations are best positioned to navigate global supply chain shifts and sustain long-term growth.

Gold Today | Analysis | Deveya Gaglani, Senior Research Analyst - Commodities, Axis Direct.
Gold prices rose more than 1% to around $4,070 per ounce on Tuesday as investors assessed diplomatic efforts to ease the U.S.-Iran conflict and their potential impact on oil prices, inflation, and the Federal Reserve’s interest rate outlook. Reports suggested mediators are working to bring Washington and Tehran back to the negotiating table, with discussions including a possible 10-day truce to safeguard shipping through the Strait of Hormuz. Comex Silver extended its winning streak for a third consecutive session, settling near $59 after gaining more than 4%. Prices were supported by optimism over a possible deal between the U.S. and Iran, which boosted market sentiment. Meanwhile, both gold and silver are trading in positive territory during the morning session.
Copper prices surged nearly 3% to around $6.48 per pound, their highest level in five weeks, supported by tightening physical market conditions in China and ongoing supply disruptions in major producing regions. Sentiment was further boosted after China’s premium for imported copper climbed to $100 per tonne, the highest level since May last year.

Bullion prices recover on technical buying amid geopolitical uncertainty: Renisha Chainani, head of research at Augmont
· Price Movement – Gold and Silver bounced back on technical buying as investors weighed the widening Middle East conflict and waited for next week’s U.S. Federal Reserve meeting for hints on where interest rates are headed. The conflict’s recent escalation pushed oil prices to their highest level in over a month on Monday, while more U.S. policymakers argued that rates might need to go up to keep inflation in check.
· Geopolitical Tensions – Tehran received a proposal from mediators for a 10-day ceasefire, aimed at rescuing the interim ceasefire deal signed in June. Iran’s Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni traveled to Pakistan, a key mediator, and urged Islamabad to keep up its efforts.
· Macro-Economic Signals – ADP data revealed that U.S. private employers added just 16,500 jobs per week on average in the four weeks ending July 4, down from 19,250 a week in the previous four-week stretch — the fourth consecutive slowdown in hiring. Markets largely expect the Fed to hold rates steady at next week’s meeting, though they’re pricing in a more than 55% chance of a rate hike in September.

Quote | Avinash Shekhar, Co-Founder & CEO, Pi42
“Bitcoin extended its gains as optimism around U.S. crypto legislation and continued institutional demand kept sentiment constructive across the digital asset market. Ethereum, XRP, and Dogecoin also traded higher, while Bitcoin ETFs recorded a fifth consecutive day of net inflows, highlighting sustained investor interest after months of uneven flows.
One of the most encouraging aspects of the current rally is that it is being supported by multiple factors rather than a single catalyst. Improving regulatory clarity, steady ETF inflows, and strengthening technical momentum are together creating a more favourable backdrop for digital assets. This broad-based support is often more sustainable than rallies driven purely by short-term sentiment.
From a market perspective, Bitcoin is once again approaching an important technical zone, while Ethereum and XRP are also showing signs of potential breakout moves. If these levels are cleared with sustained buying interest, it could strengthen confidence across the wider crypto market and encourage broader participation.
For investors, the focus should now shift from whether the market can rally to whether it can sustain momentum. Strong trends are built on consistent participation, and the combination of institutional inflows, improving policy outlook, and healthy price action suggests that the current recovery is being supported by stronger underlying fundamentals than earlier rebounds.”

Stock in focus: Bandhan Bank
JPM on Bandhan BK: Neutral, TP Rs 175
Guidance cut was key focus in Bandhan’s 1QFY27 earnings call with a significant cut in FY27 RoA and growth targets.
Bandhan has cut 4QFY27 RoA guidance by 40bps to 1.2-1.4% (vs 1.6-1.8% earlier) driven primarily by external factors:
(i) 30bps RoA impact from moderation in NIM outlook (from 6.5% to 1Q level of 6.2%) on account of tighter liquidity and elevated funding costs, and
(ii) 10bps RoA impact from elevated opex especially rising technology related costs (from 4.2% to 1Q level of 4.3%).
Nomura on Bandhan BK: Neutral, TP Rs 190
1QFY27 PAT of INR5bn (+35% y-y, -6% q-q) beat estimate by 8%, driven by strong NII, fee income and lower credit costs.
Bank raised average SA rates by 20bp and peak TD rates by 20bp towards the end of 1Q, on intense deposit competition, so cost impact will flow through over coming quarters
This comes as a surprise given had expected funding costs to ease on RBI’s supportive measures.
Asset quality held up: credit costs at 1.8% (down slightly q-q), though gross slippages ticked up to 2.9% (vs 2.8% in 4QFY26)
Cut FY27-28F EPS by 4-7%, building in 18-24bp lower NIMs even after lowering credit cost assumptions to 1.8% (from 2%).
CLSA on Bandhan Bk: O-P, TP Rs 235
While NII beat estimate by 4%, lower treasury gains and higher Opex led to a PAT miss.
Gross loan growth optically accelerated to 16% due to a low YoY base.
Reported NIM was stable at 6.2% QoQ.
Jefferies on Bandhan Bk: Buy TP Rs 240
Macquarie on Bandhan Bank: Recommendation — Underperform; Target ₹130
Uncertain road to recovery
PAT misses estimates
Margin outlook cut; credit costs remain elevated
- July 22, 2026 09:06
Stock in focus: TVS Motors
CLSA on TVS Motors: O-P, TP raised to Rs 4384
Delivered an 1QFY27 Ebitda margin of 12.8% (-31bps QoQ), 60bps ahead of estimate, despite a 3.5% QoQ rise in commodity costs.
TVSL offset the impact through a 1.5% price hike, operating leverage, cost optimisation initiatives and favourable currency movements, with exports contributing 26% of revenue. Management remains confident in sustaining volume momentum & expects to outperform industry for both domestic & export markets.
Jefferies on TVS Motors: Buy, TP raised to Rs 4900
Raise FY27-29 EPS by 4-5%; we are 7-21% above Street.
Peak of margin concern also seems behind.
TVS’s 39x FY27E PE appears rich (10Y avg 35x) but justified
Macquarie on TVS Motors: Recommendation — Outperform; Target ₹4325
Strong start to the year; sustainability remains key
Margins resilient; asset quality strengthens
Sustainability remains the key test

Stock in focus: Bajaj Auto
Bernstein on Bajaj Auto: O-p, TP Rs 11500
Delivered a strong quarter.
While other auto companies benefited primarily from GST cuts and supportive domestic policies, Bajaj’s performance was driven largely by its own execution
Would also highlight Bajaj’s earnings call as a benchmark for disclosure quality.
Management was transparent on strategy, commodity inflation, production disruptions, & path from margin pressure to EBITDA recovery, providing a level of detail that remains best-in-class among 2W OEMs.
CLSA on Bajaj Auto: O-p TP Rs 12068
1QFY27 Ebitda margin of 20.9% (+9bps QoQ and 69bps ahead of estimate), despite commodity cost inflation of 4.5% QoQ
MOSL on Bajaj Auto: Upgrade to Buy, TP Rs 12096
Promising outlook across segments
Earnings beat led by strong margins
Free cash flow generation reached INR23b in 1QFY27, doubling YoY and representing approximately 80% cash conversion of PAT.
Jefferies on Bajaj Auto: Hold, TP Rs 11500
Q1 EBITDA and PAT rose 42-45% YoY, 5-7% above JEFe led by better-than-expected margins.
EBITDA margin was up a slight 10bp QoQ despite severe commodity cost headwinds.

Pre-Market Analysis | Gaurav Udani, Founder - ThinCredBlu Securities
“Nifty is expected to open lower around 24,120, down nearly 70 points, indicating a cautious start amid mixed global cues.
The index continues to trade within a narrow range, with 24,000–24,050 acting as the immediate support zone. Holding above this range will be important to maintain the current market structure. On the upside, 24,300–24,400 remains the key resistance area, where fresh selling pressure could emerge.
Markets are also likely to remain influenced by ongoing quarterly earnings and global developments, keeping stock-specific volatility elevated.
Traders should avoid aggressive positions at the open and wait for confirmation around key technical levels. Until Nifty breaks out of the current range, a disciplined, level-based approach remains the preferred strategy

The rupee is poised to open lower on Wednesday, reversing a brief relief rally, in the wake of a further rise in oil prices following fresh exchanges of strikes between the United States and Iran.
The rupee is expected to open in the 96.40-96.45 range, traders said, after inching up 0.2% to close at 96.23 in the previous session. That marked the Indian currency’s best day in two weeks, buoyed by robust inflows linked to a set of measures announced by the central bank to support the rupee.

Market analysis by Vikram Subburaj, CEO, Giottus.com
Bitcoin traded near $66,300 on Wednesday, gaining about 1.7% over the past 24 hours. The recovery was supported by improving institutional demand and firmer global equity markets, extending the rebound from June’s lows. Immediate support lies around $65,400-$65,500, followed by the stronger $64,500-$65,000 region. Resistance is visible near $66,900-$67,000, with the short-term-holder breakeven area around $68,000 presenting a more significant hurdle before $70,000.
On-chain conditions are becoming more balanced, although the rally is not yet being driven by strong spot demand. The spot volumes remain subdued, while futures and options open interest has expanded. Perpetual-market buying has improved, and demand for downside protection has eased. However, the growing share of short-term, price-sensitive capital leaves Bitcoin vulnerable to sharper volatility.
The July 28-29 Federal Reserve meeting remains the principal macro catalyst. All 104 economists surveyed by Reuters expect rates to remain at 3.50%-3.75%, although markets see one increase by December as probable. Brent crude near $91.55 and the 10-year Treasury yield around 4.63% could keep the Fed cautious.
Our advice: Investors should avoid chasing Bitcoin near resistance. Staggered accumulation and disciplined position sizing remain preferable until the price clears $68,000 with sustained spot volume and ETF demand.

Rupee stability faces pressure from high crude prices and a strong dollar
The rupee remained largely stable over the past week and closed at 96.24 against the dollar on Tuesday. Although the local currency declined about 0.2 per cent during the session, erasing Monday’s gains, it largely held its ground amid mixed global cues.
Crude oil prices have once again emerged as a key headwind. Brent crude futures, currently trading around $90 per barrel, have surged nearly 25 per cent in July. The renewed strength follows fresh geopolitical tensions. Risks seem to be elevating after Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthis announced plans to impose a naval blockade against Saudi Arabia. The development has reinforced concerns that disruptions to energy supplies remain a persistent risk, keeping pressure on oil prices and the rupee. Read the full story here
