The Thiruvallam police have arrested four members of a gang for allegedly assaulting a contractor and damaging his mobile phone.
The incident occurred around 5 p.m. on February 20 near the Kolliyoor panchayat stadium. Vikraman, a native of Kovalam, had taken up a contract for plot-clearing work on a property owned by Anuja, when the accused allegedly arrived at the site, verbally abused him, smashed his mobile phone, and attacked him with a beer bottle.
Those arrested have been identified as Safarulla Khan, 30, of Vizhinjam; Dhanush alias Kithu, 21, of Venganoor; Aji, 25, of Kottappuram; and Nithin alias Kichu, 25, of Muttakkad.
According to the police, the accused are allegedly involved in various cases, including assault, rioting, offences under the NDPS Act, POCSO Act, Abkari Act and Explosives Act, registered at stations such as Kovalam, Pettah, Fort, Vizhinjam, Karamana, Nemom, Balaramapuram as well as Viyyur in Thrissur.
