Four get 1 year jail for attempting to sell baby boy in Vijayawada

The Chief Judicial Magistrate Court on Friday (May 15, 2026) sentenced four, including two women, to one year Rigorous Imprisonment (RI) and imposed ₹2,000 fine on each for trying to sell a baby boy, the NTR Commissionerate police said in a release. The convicted identified as B. Nagamani, U. Suvartha, G. Srinivas Rao, and R. Baji, all natives of Vijayawada, were arrested by the Kothapet police, when they tried to sell the baby in September 2017.
