The State government is committed to ensuring that every welfare and development scheme reaches all eligible beneficiaries in a timely and effective manner, Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Backward Classes Development Minister K.A. Thulasi has said.

Inaugurating the NABARD-supported Athirappilly–Mattathur Tribes project at the Vachumaram community hall here on Friday, the Minister said the government’s focus was not merely on announcing schemes but on ensuring their successful implementation through continuous monitoring and review.

“Even the smallest bottlenecks in the implementation process will be addressed so that development projects reach the people they are meant to serve,” Ms. Thulasi said.

The Minister announced that the government has drawn up a major programme to strengthen the economic security and self-reliance of women belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. The benefits of the scheme, including for tribal women, would begin reaching beneficiaries in the coming days, she said, adding that participants would receive skill training and awareness programmes to help improve their livelihoods.

Ms. Thulasi also said the government would convene urgent departmental-level discussions to resolve technical hurdles delaying housing, road and other development projects in tribal settlements in the Chalakudy Assembly constituency.

She assured that eligible beneficiaries in tribal hamlets would receive housing, road connectivity, educational assistance for children and healthcare benefits without delay. The department would also strengthen the role of SC/ST promoters to ensure that welfare schemes reach grassroots communities through sustained engagement.

The Minister said pending educational assistance to students would be cleared by August-September this year. She also flagged off a forest produce collection vehicle on the occasion.

Chalakudy MLA Sanish Kumar Joseph presided over the function. NABARD Kerala general manager Jyothis Jaganath was the chief guest.
