Hangzhou Asian Games bronze medallist Gulveer Singh on Saturday, August 1, became the first Indian athlete to win a medal in the 5000m sprint in the Commonwealth Games, after he won a bronze.

Gulveer, who bagged silver in the men’s 10,000m on Tuesday, added another medal to his tally by claiming bronze in the men’s 5000m final. He clocked 13:24.95 to finish third in the race.
