Heat Wave Action Plan-2026 launched to tackle summer related illnesses

The Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA), in coordination with the district administration, has launched the “Heat Wave Action Plan-2026” in Visakhapatnam to prevent heat-related illnesses during the summer. District Collector M. Abhishikth Kishore directed officials to create awareness at the mandal, village, ward secretariat and municipal levels on precautions against extreme heat. Shopkeepers, business establishments and construction companies have been advised to provide drinking water and shaded rest areas for workers and the public. Labourers and outdoor workers were asked to avoid exposure to direct sunlight during peak afternoon hours and consume fluids regularly. Officials have also been instructed to arrange ORS packets and first-aid facilities at workplaces across the district.
