IMD forecasts 2-3℃ rise in temperatures in Telangana, issues heatwave alert for May 15 to 19

After nearly a week of relatively lower maximum temperatures across Telangana, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued cautioned of heatwave in several districts between May 15 to May 19. Maximum temperatures are likely to see a gradual rise by 2 to 3°C during next four days, the IMD said on Wednesday (May 13, 2026).

According to IMDs latest bulletin, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds are likely to occur at isolated places in a few districts on May 14 and May 15 before heatwave conditions intensify in northern districts.

Thunderstorms forecast in four districts on May 14, 2026

On May 14, thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds are very likely at isolated places in Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem and Khammam districts. A similar forecast was issued for Bhadradri Kothagudem and Khammam districts for May 15.

Heatwave conditions in four districts on May 15, 2026

The IMD has warned that heatwave conditions are likely to prevail at isolated pockets in Adilabad, Kumaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial and Nirmal districts on May 15.

Weather forecast for May 16

The forecast extends further to May 16, with heatwave conditions likely in Adilabad, Kumaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad and Jagtial districts.

On May 17, the IMD has forecast heatwave conditions in Adilabad, Kumaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Karimnagar and Peddapalli districts.

While the bulletin indicates that heatwave conditions are expected to continue on May 18 and May 19, the IMD has not specified the districts likely to be affected on those days.

Hyderabad weather forecast

Hyderabad and its surrounding areas for the next 24 hours will see a partly cloudy sky. “Hazy conditions are very likely to prevail during morning hours. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 40℃ and 27℃ respectively,” the bulletin said.
