Jamie Campbell Bower debuts FIRST LOOK as Celeborn

Jamie Campbell Bower's days of playing Vecna are far behind him. The 'Strange Things' alum is all set to enter a new fantasy series realm in Season 3 of 'The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power'.The actor on Thursday, debuted his first look as Celeborn, the Elven lord and husband of Galadriel, played by actress Morfydd Clark.

Bower steps into Tolkien's world

The casting, which had been the subject of fan speculation for months, was confirmed with the official first look shared on Empire Magazine. This drop finally ended weeks of rumours about Bower's mysterious role in the upcoming season.Sharing the look, he wrote, "Beyond elated and grateful to be joining this wonderful show and universe. X"

Sauron and Gandalf first looks drop online

The first look of Celeborn comes just a day after the makers released the first looks of Daniel Weyman as Gandalf and Charlie Vickers as the dark lord Sauron.

About Celeborn

Bower takes on the role of Celeborn, a renowned Elven warrior and nobleman, who is also the husband of Morfydd Clark's Galadriel. Although this will be the first time that fans get a glimpse of the character, he was teased in Season 1, Episode 7 while speaking with Theo. She reveals that he left her home and 'husband' to fight in the wars against Morgoth and never returned.The character of Celeborn was previously portrayed by Marton Csokas in Peter Jackson's 'The Lord of the Rings' film trilogy, opposite Cate Blanchette.

Describing his interpretation of the character, Bower told Empire, "This idea of longing and yearning is so pervasive in Tolkien’s relationship with Edith for the time that they were apart. I really feasted on that idea. Celeborn has had to find a way to survive whilst longing for something that he so dearly loved and so dearly missed as well."

Galadriel and Celeborn's reunion

How The Rings of Power will introduce Celeborn remains one of the biggest mysteries heading into Season 3.

In Tolkien's legendarium, Celeborn and Galadriel married during the First Age. However, within the timeline of The Rings of Power, the two characters have been separated for centuries.Clark said she enjoyed exploring their relationship on screen and praised Bower's casting. "She's kind of rude to him in the books," she said with a laugh. "She's the queen! But Jamie looks exactly like how I would imagine Celeborn.

Showrunners praise casting choice

Series creators J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay revealed that they reviewed hundreds of audition tapes before selecting Bower for the role.Payne explained, "He has this voice that is rich and hypnotic and sonorous that feels it has the wisdom of the ages buried inside of it."He added "And then we did a chemistry read [with Clark], and instantly it just felt like he loved her so much. It felt so natural, and so organic, and so right."

Season 3 arrives in November

'The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power' Season 3 is scheduled to premiere on Prime Video on November 11. The series has been planned for a five-season run.
