Minister and TVK chief coordinator K.A. Sengottaiyan on Thursday said he still kept a photo of AIADMK supremo and former Chief Minister the late J. Jayalalithaa in his pocket.

Speaking to journalists at the Coimbatore airport, Mr. Sengottaiyan, who was a legislator with the AIADMK for nine times before joining the TVK, said the dream of the person who thought his picture alone was sufficient had been shattered to pieces, in an apparent dig at AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami.

“For the Athikadavu-Avinashi scheme, he held a felicitation ceremony saying that the photos of MGR or Jayalalithaa were not needed and that his photo alone was enough. Today, it is not known where he is. Even today, Jayalalithaa’s picture remains in my pocket,” he said, targeting Mr. Palaniswami.

On TVK’s victory, Mr. Sengottaiyan said Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay has created history, effectively eliminating the practice of cash for votes. “Only Mr. Vijay can provide good governance, deliver an excellent administration and create history as the permanent Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu,” he said.
