Karnataka govt. sets up panel for recruitment reforms

Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar on Friday chaired a meeting with senior officials to review preparedness for examinations to be conducted for recruitment to vacant posts in the State government. Home and IT-BT Minister Priyank Kharge, Chief Secretary Shalini Rajneesh, and senior officials from various departments attended the meeting.

The government of Karnataka has decided to form the Competitive Examinations and Recruitment Reform Committee under the chairmanship of S.V. Ranganath, former chief secretary, and consisting of former chief secretaries T.M. Vijayabhaskar and Vandita Sharma and Financial Adviser to the Chief Minister L.K. Atheeq.

The committee will look into competitive examination and recruitment reforms.

Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, who chaired a high-level meeting on Friday to review preparations for upcoming recruitments, has directed officials to take strict measures to ensure complete transparency in the recruitment process for over 70,000 posts.

The KPSC and KEA have already scheduled exams to fill 36,773 posts within the next six months, with approximately 35 lakh candidates expected to appear, the Chief Minister pointed out. Comprehensive guidelines have been prepared, and best practices from the UPSC can be adopted to improve the system further, he said.
