Lens reclaimed the top spot in Ligue 1 on Saturday with a Wesley Said-inspired 5-0 victory over Paris FC, while a late penalty forced Marseille to settle for a draw with Strasbourg.

Pierre Sage’s side moved one point clear of Paris Saint-Germain after their third consecutive league win, coupled with PSG’s 3-1 loss at Rennes on Friday.

Said and Rayan Fofana both scored twice, with Florian Thauvin adding a penalty, bringing Lens to 52 points. Paris FC remains in 15th place, eight points above the relegation zone.

Said hit the post and Thauvin had a goal disallowed for offside within the first 15 minutes at Stade Jean-Bouin. However, Odsonne Edouard set up Said to open the scoring in the 24th minute. Said then doubled Lens’ lead seven minutes before halftime with a strike into the top corner.

Thauvin secured the win just before the hour mark with a penalty after Otavio fouled Saud Abdulhamid. Fofana and Allan Saint-Maximin, who replaced Edouard and Said, added two more goals in stoppage time.

Marseille, under interim boss Jacques Abardonado, drew 2-2 with Strasbourg at home after leading by two goals late in the second half. Former coach Roberto De Zerbi left the club following a 5-0 loss to PSG last Sunday.

Mason Greenwood and Amine Gouiri scored for Marseille, but Sebastian Nanasi’s second-half goal and Joaquin Panichelli’s injury-time penalty ensured a draw. Marseille remains in fourth place, 11 points behind the leaders.

“It’s becoming a recurring theme," Abardonado said. “It’s the same scenario as against Paris FC, where we were leading 2-0 and then conceded a penalty in added time. The team is struggling a lot."

Strasbourg, managed by Gary O’Neil, is seventh in the table with 31 points. Despite an empty stadium for the first 15 minutes due to a fan protest, Greenwood gave Marseille the lead. Gouiri scored his fifth goal of the season two minutes after halftime.

Nanasi equalised in the 73rd minute after good play by Martial Godo. Marseille seemed set for victory until Emerson Palmieri fouled Gessime Yassine in stoppage time, allowing Panichelli to score the equalising penalty in the 97th minute.

Lille climbed to fifth in the table, six points behind Marseille, with a 1-1 home draw against Brest. Gaetan Perrin’s 71st-minute goal levelled the score after Remy Labeau-Lascary had given Brest the lead earlier in the second half.
