Fresh firing was reported early Tuesday morning in Litan village in Manipur’s Ukhrul district. Several rounds of gunshots were heard, creating panic and fear among residents. Internet services has suspended in violence hit Ukhrul with immediate effect for five days.
Several new houses were reportedly set ablaze during the night and early morning hours. Preliminary reports said 21 houses had been burnt till yesterday evening. Incidents during the night and early morning hours increased the number to around 30 houses or possibly more, though the exact figure is yet to be officially confirmed.
Residents from both Kuki and Tangkhul communities were seen fleeing their homes and moving to safer locations with their belongings as tension continued in the area.

Chief Minister appeals for peace
On Monday, Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh appealed for peace and restraint among the people of the area. An emergency meeting was also held with representatives of both communities and concerned authorities, including the district administration.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Losii Dikho, MLA Ram Muivah, and Kimneo Haokip. However, no concrete solution or resolution emerged from the meeting.
No casualties so far
No injuries or deaths had been reported. Authorities said they were closely monitoring the situation as tension continued in the area.
