A 17-year-old boy who went missing from Nanajipur village near Shamshabad on Friday afternoon was found dead in a nearby stream.
The deceased, was identified as Byagari Sricharan, a student and resident of Edhulanagulapally village in RC Puram mandal of Sangareddy district. A missing case was initially registered at Shamshabad police station based on a complaint lodged by his father, Byagari Hanmanthu, a painter.
According to the police, the family had travelled to Nanajipur village on Friday (May 8) to attend a relative’s housewarming ceremony scheduled for the following day.
On Saturday (May 9), while the ceremony was underway at the relatives’ residence, Sricharan was asked to bring coconuts from a nearby shop. After returning and handing over the coconuts, he asked his father for ₹500. When his father told him he did not have the money, Sricharan informed his elder brother, Raghavendar, at around 12 noon that he was stepping out.
Police said the teenager then left the house on a motorcycle. When repeated calls to his mobile phone went unanswered and the device appeared switched off, family members began searching for him. During the search, they found his motorcycle parked near a Hanuman temple located beside the Nanajipur stream.
After failing to trace him in the surrounding areas, the family approached Shamshabad police and lodged a missing complaint, following which an investigation was initiated.
Meanwhile, villagers alerted the police after spotting the body floating in the Nanajipur stream. Police personnel rushed to the spot and identified the deceased as Sricharan.
The body was shifted to Osmania General Hospital mortuary for postmortem examination. Further investigation is underway.
