Manchester United pulled three points clear of chasing Chelsea in the Premier League with their 1-0 win over Everton at the Hill Dickinson Stadium on Tuesday as Benjamin Sesko provided the telling touch.

Sesko, who came off the bench to turn the ball into the net, took his goal-scoring tally in 2026 to 5 strikes despite not having started under Michael Carrick.

Sesko nearly covered the distance of the field to get on the end of Bryan Mbeumo’s pass as United hit Everton on the counter with devastating efficiency to secure all points on offer on the road.

United turned defence to attack in a matter of seconds as Cunha played a long ball to Mbeumo, who broke at pace, before setting Sesko up for a finish past Jordan Pickford as the Red Devils came away from the game against Everton with a win that bolsters the club’s chances of securing a UEFA Champions League berth.

United haven’t lost a game since former midfield maestro Carrick took over the club, including wins over rivals Manchester City, title-aspirants Arsenal, Londoners Fulham, Spurs, and a draw against West Ham.

United’s win over Everton helped Carrick stay unbeaten at the helm of his beloved club, since he stepped in to fill the vacant spot after the club, which was in dire need of direction, parted ways with former coach Ruben Amorim on the back of a string of poor results.

The win pushed United’s tally for the ongoing campaign to 48 points in 27 outings thus far, three ahead of fifth-placed Chelsea, and as many behind third-placed Aston Villa.

Everton, on the other hand, stand ninth in the table with 37 points from 27 games following the defeat as former United boss David Moyes looks to steer the Toffees in the right direction following a couple of years of turmoil amid sanctions and battles.
