Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the Namo Bharat train and Meerut Metro services in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday, marking a significant step in the state’s urban transit development.
The Namo Bharat train is part of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS), aimed at offering high-speed, frequent connectivity between Delhi and Meerut. The initiative is part of the Centre’s broader strategy to expand regional rapid transit networks, reduce travel times, ease traffic congestion, and promote sustainable urban mobility.
Ahead of a public event in Mohiuddinpur, PM Modi will also inaugurate and lay the foundation for multiple development projects in Meerut worth approximately Rs 12,930 crore.

- According to the district administration, the Prime Minister will arrive at Hindon Airport in Ghaziabad at 11 am. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will reach Mohkampur helipad near Shatabdi Nagar station at 11.15 am to receive him.
- PM Modi’s helicopter is expected to land there at 11.30 am.
- At 12.30 pm, the Prime Minister will flag off the Namo Bharat train and the Meerut Metro from Shatabdi Nagar station, after which he and the Chief Minister will travel on the metro to Meerut South station.
- From Meerut South, PM Modi will proceed by road to Mohiuddinpur, where he is expected around 1 pm.
- Before addressing the public gathering, he will inaugurate various development projects and lay foundation stones for ongoing initiatives.
- After spending about an hour at the venue, he will depart from the Mohiuddinpur helipad at around 2.10 pm to return to Hindon Airport.

CM Adityanath called the launch a milestone in the state’s growth, describing it as the start of a “new golden chapter" for “New Uttar Pradesh."
“Respected Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji will flag off the ‘Meerut Metro’ and ‘Namo Bharat’ train in the revolutionary land of Meerut, giving momentum to the development journey of ‘New Uttar Pradesh’. At the same time, he will gift the district of Meerut — which is witnessing modern connectivity — with various development and public welfare projects worth approximately ₹12,930 crores," CM Yogi tweeted.
