Police to deploy more two-wheeler patrols during New Year celebrations in Bengaluru

As part of heightened security measures in the city for the New Year’s Eve celebrations, the Bengaluru Police have decided to deploy more motorcycles in place of four-wheelers for patrolling, with the objective of ensuring quicker response and swift action.

Police Commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh said the decision was taken following a review meeting with senior police officials.

During the meeting, it was observed that Hoysala patrolling vehicles often face delays in reaching incident spots due to heavy traffic congestion and large crowds, especially in areas where revellers gather. To overcome this challenge, the police decided to increase motorcycle patrols, which can manoeuvre through congested roads more efficiently.

Officials have also been instructed to station patrolling vehicles at strategic locations across the city and enhance foot patrol deployment in sensitive and crowded areas.

In addition, the city police have roped in the Chennamma Pade, an all-women police force, to patrol public places, identify troublemakers, and ensure the safety of women.

The police have further introduced specially designed CCTV cameras capable of detecting smoke and fire, which will be operational after the deadline. These cameras are linked to the central command centre, enabling officials to monitor the situation round the clock and coordinate effectively with personnel on the ground.
