A deeply disturbing case has come to light from Rampura Phul in Punjab’s Bathinda district, where a woman has been accused of killing her two minor children, allegedly to continue an extramarital relationship. The incident has left the entire area in shock and prompted a police investigation into the circumstances surrounding the deaths.

According to police officials, a murder case was registered against the woman after suspicion grew over the deaths of her 12-year-old daughter and seven-year-old son within a span of 15 days. Police believe the children may have been poisoned, with allegations that rat poison was administered.

The first incident occurred around two weeks ago, when the woman’s 12-year-old daughter died suddenly. At the time, family members and villagers assumed the death was due to illness and performed the last rites without informing the police.

However, suspicion intensified when the woman’s 7-year-old son, identified as Fatehveer, died under similar circumstances on Friday night. The back-to-back deaths of the two children raised alarm among villagers, who began questioning the cause.

On Saturday morning, the village sarpanch (head) along with several residents approached the local police station and shared their concerns. Villagers alleged that the woman was involved in an extramarital affair and that the children were seen as an obstacle to the relationship. They claimed she may have poisoned them to remove this obstacle.

Acting on the complaint and preliminary inquiry, police registered an FIR against the mother and launched a detailed investigation. Officials are now probing the possible involvement of the woman’s alleged partner and examining whether the same method was used in the daughter’s death earlier.

The tragic deaths of the two children have sent shockwaves through the village, with residents demanding strict action and a thorough probe into the case.
