Billionaire Radhakishan Damani and his family bought a 2.37% stake in NBFC Sundaram Finance in the April-June quarter of FY27, after selling the same number of shares in the July-September quarter of FY26.

Mumbai-based investment company Bright Star Investments, which serves as the primary investment vehicle for DMart founder Radhakishan Damani and his family, held 26.3 lakh shares of Sundaram Finance at the end of the first quarter of the ongoing financial year 2027, data on the company’s shareholding pattern showed.

Bright Star’s name was not mentioned in the shareholding pattern filings of Sundaram Finance for the March or December quarters of FY26, which means it either held no stake in the company or less than 1%, requiring no disclosures as per SEBI’s rules. At the end of last year’s September quarter, Damani’s investment firm held 26.3 lakh shares, or a 2.37% stake.

Radhakishan Damani is the founder of DMart and has an estimated net worth of nearly $16 billion, according to data on Forbes. Much of his wealth is driven by his retail business and a roughly Rs 1.8 lakh crore stock market portfolio, as per data on Trendlyne, which shows that DMart parent Avenue Supermarts continued to remain his biggest holding. He also owns stakes in VST Industries, United Breweries, Blue Dart and others.
