Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Trust Board member G. Bhanu Prakash Reddy criticised DMK floor leader in the Tamil Nadu Assembly and former Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin for his recent statement on the floor of the House on eradicating Sanatana Dharma, a stand he had maintained when in power.

Mr. Reddy addressed a media conference in Tirupati on Wednesday (May 13, 2026), where he took exception to the Tamil Nadu politician’s ‘continued assault’ on Sanatana Dharma and termed it ‘a lesson not learnt’ even after the party’s debacle in the recent elections.

He added that the party would be doomed if it continued to maintain the stand, which, he said, had let the party down in the recent Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.

“In spite of the thousand years of Mughal and British rule, the Sanatana Dharma flourished in India without a break. Nobody can end the people’s religion,” he said.

Referring to Udhayanidhi’s mother Durga Stalin regularly visiting temples, including TTD-run shrines, he appealed to the young leader to learn a lesson from his mother.

He also faulted Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay for maintaining silence over the comment made in his presence in the Assembly.
