Members of the Ukkunagaram Sri Sathya Sai Seva Samithi and the Duvvada Railway Users Association distributed free drinking water to passengers at Duvvada railway station on Sunday. The service initiative has been under way for the past 14 days.
Guided by the precept ‘Manava Seve Madhava Seva' (Service to Man is Service to God), volunteers distributed one-litre water bottles to around 216 passengers travelling in general coaches of the Amaravathi Express (Shalimar–Vasco-da-Gama), using the train’s two-minute halt. As the brief stoppage made platform access difficult, volunteers handed bottles directly through doors and windows, prioritising women, elderly, and differently-abled passengers.
The initiative was organised under the leadership of Sanyasi Raju, convenor of the Samithi, with financial support from Ukkunagaram Sri Sathya Sai Samithi, Visakhapatnam.
