Stock recommendation: Brokerages on Honasa
CLSA on Honasa
O-P, TP Rs 434
reported revenue growth of 23% YoY (28% growth ex-change in accounting) 4%/6% ahead of our estimate/consensus. Volume grew 30% while its margin expanded more than 650bps YoY, leading to a beat on Ebitda of 19%/24% versus our estimate/consensus. Three things stood out for us. Fisrst, Mamaearth grew in the teens YoY and management expects double-digit growth to continue. Second, offtake growth in general trade and modern trade was up 30% YoY, a healthy sign of rising brand traction. Third, operating leverage, albeit on a soft base, helped Ebitda beat our estimate by more than 140bps. We think Honasa’s runway to scale brands via its focus categories and hero SKUs remains long. Execution of the Mamaearth turnaround continues to improve and we expect margin expansion to continue.
Jefferies on Honasa
Buy TP Rs 565
After going through the most challenging phase during distribution realignment, Honasa is firmly on a strong growth path.
Performance further improved in 4Q, with mid-teens growth at Mamaearth, continued strong momentum in younger brands, and margins reaching their highest-ever levels.
Guidance of high-teens revenue growth with 100bps annual EBITDA expansion implies a compounding story is in the making, which should bring investor focus back to the name.

CLSA on Nykaa
O-P TP Rs 338
reported 28% revenue growth in 4QFY26 and its highest-ever Ebitda margin of 8.4%, up 195bps YoY, with Ebitda 8% above consensus. Beauty NSV grew 29% YoY with margin-accretive own brands up 54%, driving a +70bps Ebitda margin. Fashion saw 42% YoY NSV growth with Ebitda breakeven. Ebit missed our estimate due to higher-than-expected depreciation. We lower our FY27-28CL earnings estimates by 1%-2% on account of higher depreciation, but raise our target price from Rs328 to Rs338 to reflect faster sales growth. We expect Ebitda margin expansion to continue, driven by rising salience of own brands and operating leverage.
Jefferies on Nykaa
Buy TP raised to Rs 350
Continues to report strong growth across segments - beauty growth at >25% with highest-ever EBITDA margin; fashion reported continued acceleration, with break-even signalling mgmt. has cracked code; own brands continue to go from strength to strength
Medium-term outlook is quite positive, although mgmt. sounded a note of caution in context of a tough macro.
HSBC on Nykaa
Hold, TP Rs 273
Robust GMV performance continues (BPC +27%, Fashion 31%); House of brands continues to scale (c20% of BPC)
EBITDA margin up c180bp y-o-y, similar to Q3FY26, yet the quantum of expansion is expected to moderate
Strong growth, execution but demanding valuation (67x FY28e EV/EBITDA)
CITI on Nykaa
Sell, TP Rs 225
EBITDA was 3% ahead of our estimates (8.4%; Citi: 8.2%) on in-line contribution profits (+1% vs Citi) and lower fixed opex.
Fashion achieved operating b/e (in-line with guidance).
Overall, Revenue/EBITDA/EBIT growth at 28%/67%/129% YoY.
BPC reported in-line gross margins and contribution profits (+29% YoY on +27% revenue growth).
Nykaa has delivered a notable uptick in margin expansion in FY26 (6% to 7.5%) – driven by lower losses in fashion, uptick in BPC gross margins and operating leverage

Agri business revenue declines 16% YoY amid geopolitical disruptions
Morgan Stanley expects stock to remain range-bound near term due to uncertainty around cigarette volume growth
CLSA on ITC
O-P, TP Rs 394
Cigarettes Ebit grew 7.2% YoY in 4QFY26 and was 15% ahead of consensus. The quarter was marked by a significant increase in cigarette taxes, which likely led to channel filling and potential product mix changes due to pricing differentials, thereby impacting overall performance during the period. Cigarettes net revenue for the year grew 8.2% YoY. FMCG revenue other than cigarettes grew 15% YoY and was 2%/5% above our estimate/consensus.
CITI on ITC
Sell, TP Rs 290
4Q performance is not directly comparable with prior periods given mid-quarter changes in cigarette taxation
Estimate ~7% volume decline, driving the 24% drop in cigarette net revenues, reflecting: 1) strong January demand; 2) trade inventory stocking ahead of price hikes; and 3) demand slowdown thereafter following staggered price increases to offset higher taxes.
Reported cigarette EBIT growth of ~7% is also not comparable, as it appears supported by one-off inventory gains on pre-tax revision stock
Importantly, key structural uncertainties persist, particularly around price elasticity, demand sensitivity to successive price hikes, and potential downtrading to illicit products
Jefferies on ITC
Hold, TP Rs 350
Reported a strong 4Q, driven by cigarette performance
Impact of sharp tax hike was only partial, but 4Q also likely benefited from pipeline inventory around the cut-off date (JEFe).
However, real test is in 1QFY27, when impact of sharp tax hike will be visible, as price hikes are only partial while volumes & margins will be affected.
CITI on LIC
Buy, TP Rs 1475
4Q operational performance was strong, led by ~690 bps YoY expansion in VNB margin (~600 bps over CitiE) aided by higher non-par mix (YoY) and favourable yield curve led benefits in the swiftly growing non-par book.
EV compressed 3% over Sep’25 (+2% over Mar’25), largely led by elevated negative investment variance (almost similar impact between debt and equity for FY2026).
Management highlighted that the drop in net gain on FV change, as of Mar ’26, has largely (around 80%) been recouped till mid-May’26 providing comfort on EV recoup.
Management highlighted concerted efforts to sustainably drive improvement in persistency, product innovation, increase productivity of exiting agents, agent base augmentation, and higher business through non-agency.
Valuation remains benign with FY2027E projected core EV (ex-MTM EV) at levels higher than current market value.
Visibility on promoter holding structure is a key overhang even as operational performance remains sound.
Bernstein on LIC
Market Perform, TP Rs 900
Q4 saw healthy growth in top-line for LIC.
New sales grew +22%/+18% YoY in Q4/FY26 driven by strong non-par sales
Insurer saw continued margin uplift in FY26 aided by product mix shift (non-par) and favorable yield curve movements.
Management stated that margins could converge toward private peers level in medium-term, though acknowledged it will be a gradual process.

Stock market live: Equirus Securities on Dalmia Bharat Limited's acquisition of cement assets of JP Associates.
DALBHARA has announced acquisition of cement assets of JP associates from Adani group for Rs.28.5bn comprising of 4 units (1 IU, 2 GU and 1 Blending Unit). This implies an EV/t of 58$/t (on acquisition cost excluding refurbishment and efficiency cost of Rs. 5bn). Inclusive of such cost the implied EV/ton comes at 67$/t.
Why it is a good deal?
-We believe this acquisition to be beneficial for company as company gets access to newer markets at reasonable valuations.
-Dalmia already has 3 limestone mines near to 10 to 20 kms proximity to Rewa plant with estimated life of 8 to 10 years for existing lime stone reserves on 80% clinker utilisation.
- Jamuna Limestone Mines - 11.43MT reserve - 13Kms from plant.
- Pagra Jhiriya Limestone mines- 30.46MT reserves- 20Kms from plant
- Janardhanpur Limestone mines- 40.47MT reserves with 15kms from plant.
-We believe life of Kiln will not be an issue as Kilns can be used for many decades, if maintained well. With refractory replacements and replacement of part of kiln shell (if it gets damaged due to a refractory lapse) kilns have an undefined life. Orient Cem (Devapur) kilns have been operating since 1982. Challenge comes with efficiency of old kilns in terms of heat (ordered in & post 2011are estimated to have heat rate in the range of 674-680) and power consumption as newer kilns get better designed and are more efficient. But it doesn’t make the old kilns useless.
-Also, Dalmia earlier has successfully revived Murli plant in Maharashtra which was in much worse condition compared to JP assets (relatively better).
Details of Assets:
- Integrated Unit at Rewa (M.P) with total clinker capacity of 3.3MTPA and Grinding Capacity of 1.1MTPA.
- Grinding unit at Chunar (U.P) with 2.5MTPA capacity.
- Grinding Unit at Churk (U.P) with 1MTPA capacity.
- Blending Unit at Sadwa (U.P) with 0.6MTPA capacity.
-Out of 4 units company’s Rewa and Chunar units are equipped with own railway sidings and also have captive thermal capacity of 62MW and 37MW respectively. Churk plant has common railway siding with Adani Power.
-We believe other 2 Grinding units ((Chunar, Churk) and 1 Blending unit (Sadwa) will source clinker from Rewa plant.
- Chunar is located 194Kms from Rewa plant with its closest proximity to Varanasi market.
- Churk is 227kms from Rewa plant and is closest to Robatgunj market.
- Sadwa is 258kms from Rewa plant.
-DALBHARA with this transaction will mark its presence in Central region. Dalmia is 8th player entering the region.
-Post this acquisition, Dalmia’s total capacity will increase to 54.7MTPA and clinker capacity to 30.4MTPA. It can further raise grinding capacity at these units by 1.5 to 2 MTPA and 0.5 to 0.7 MTPA clinker capacity through debottlenecking.
-DALBHARA is likely to complete this acquisition in 2 weeks with mix of Debt and Internal accruals and expects commercial production from 2QFY27 (as it is familiar to assets due to tolling agreement earlier).
-We believe CCI clearance to not be an issue as earlier Dalmia was granted approval for same.
-Total refurbishment capex is expected at Rs.3bn over next 1 year and efficiency capex (including WHRS) of Rs.2.5bn.
-Apart from this other expansion of 12MTPA (3MTPA each at Pune and Belgaum & 6MTPA at Kadapa) remains on track reaching 66.7MTPA capacity by 3QFY28.

Stock market live: Bitcoin under pressure below $80,000 amid heavy ETF outflows: Giottus CEO
Vikram Subburaj, CEO, Giottus
May 22, 2026
Bitcoin traded near $77,500-$78,000 on May 22, after slipping to nearly $76,700 earlier in the week. The move was not a routine correction. It came after about $1.34 billion of US spot Bitcoin ETF outflows across 5 trading sessions from May 15 to May 21.
The ETF sequence explains the pressure better than price charts alone. Flows were -$290.4 million on May 15, -$648.6 million on May 18, -$331.1 million on May 19, -$70.5 million on May 20, and +$2.8 million on May 21. A single positive day of $2.8 million does not repair four prior sessions of institutional selling.
Bitcoin now has immediate support near $76,500-$76,700. A break below that band can expose $75,000. Resistance is visible at $78,000-$80,000. A close above $80,000 is needed before the market can claim that ETF selling pressure has been absorbed.
The macro calendar gives allocators a reason to stay cautious. The next US CPI release is due on June 10, 2026. The next FOMC meeting is scheduled for June 16-17, 2026. That meeting also carries a fresh Summary of Economic Projections.
The near-term macro risk is not abstract. April CPI, released on May 12, was reported at 3.8% year-on-year. US 10-year Treasury yields were around 4.6% this week. Higher yields reduce the urgency for institutions to add volatile assets before the Fed gives clearer guidance in June.
Oil risk also matters because inflation is still the market’s main rate trigger. Bitcoin’s May low came amid Iran-related geopolitical concerns and higher Treasury yields. A fresh oil spike before the June 10 CPI print would weaken the case for early easing and keep crypto liquidity defensive.
On-chain data gives a more balanced reading than ETF flows. Analysts’ desks said long-term holders added 80,000 BTC during the week and that Bitcoin’s sell-side risk ratio fell to its lowest level since October 2023. That means the weak price action is being driven more by short-term and ETF-linked selling than by long-term holder capitulation.
The True Market Mean is also important near this zone. Analysts placed the level near $78,100. With Bitcoin moving around $77,500-$78,000, the market is testing a live investor cost-basis band rather than trading far below its broader realised-cost structure.
Altcoins are confirming the same defensive setup. Ethereum traded near $2,118-$2,135 after falling about 12% from levels above $2,400 earlier in May. Solana was near $87-$94 across recent market snapshots. XRP had weakened from around $1.45 on May 13 to roughly $1.36-$1.37 by May 22. TRON stayed comparatively resilient near $0.35-$0.365.
Our advice: Bitcoin is not being abandoned at $77,500. It is being repriced by institutions after $1.34 billion of ETF outflows and before 2 major June macro events. The next confirmation will come from ETF flows first, the $80,000 resistance second, and the June 10-17 US macro window third. Investors should stagger entries near support, avoid leverage below $80,000, and treat any fall below $76,500 as a risk-control signal.

Stock market live: Nifty faces resistance near 23,800; bearish flag pattern persists: Akshay Chinchalkar
Akshay Chinchalkar, Managing Partner and Head of Markets Strategy, The Wealth Company
“ Talking domestic stocks, and the nifty ended ended 4 points down at 23655. What was interesting was that this represented a 0.9% drop from its intraday highs. Despite the market ending lower, the India VIX fell 3.4%. The front-month nifty and bank nifty saw long liquidation. Mid- and small-caps finished mixed. The NSE 500 saw three stocks gain for every two that fell. Six of the main NSE sectors fell, with IT stocks becoming the worst performers as they declined 0.6%. Realty stocks performed the best as they gained 1%. Technically speaking, yesterday’s opening surge yet again ran into the familiar former-support-turned-resistance area near 23800 and reversed. As we have been saying, unless bulls are able to send the market beyond this level on a daily closing basis, the near-term sideways to down price action will likely continue. Support remains anchored in the 23100 - 23300 zone. The current consolidation has the look of a potential “bearish flag “.
Now, coming to flows, based on provisional data, foreigners withdrew around 1891 cr while domestic players invested 2492 cr.
Speaking index options positioning, foreigners and prop traders flipped to bearish, while retail investors turned bullish.”

Reuters reported Thursday, citing sources, that Iran’s supreme leader ordered enriched uranium to remain in the country, potentially complicating the prospect for a resolution to the U.S.-Iran war. Stock market live updates: Nifty seen range-bound with resistance near 23,900: ThinCredBlu Securities
Gaurav Udani, Founder -ThinCredBlu Securities - Nifty is expected to open flat to slightly positive around 23,670, up nearly 20 points, indicating a muted start as the index continues to trade within a narrow range.
Technically, the market remains stuck between key levels, with 23,800–23,900 acting as a strong resistance zone and 23,300–23,400 providing immediate support.
The inability to decisively cross resistance or break support suggests that traders are waiting for a stronger trigger before taking directional positions.
A breakout on either side is likely to decide the next trend, while until then, the market may continue to witness range-bound and volatile moves.
Traders should remain cautious, avoid aggressive trades near the middle of the range, and focus on confirmation before initiating fresh positions.

Share market live: Morgan Stanley on Titan Company Ltd: The Golden Compounder
Recent concerns around potential regulatory restrictions have overshadowed Titan’s strong operating performance. We believe Titan is well placed to navigate any near-term challenges, with earnings visibility intact. Current levels offer an attractive entry opportunity. New Top Pick.
...offering a compelling entry opportunity: The stock is trading at 54x 12-month fwd P/E, below its 5Y and 3Y average of 67x and 65x, respectively. With core business fundamentals intact, we think this could be an opportune moment to own a consistent and predictable business. In the event of any restrictions on gold supply availability, we believe the stock could go to ~Rs3,500 implying ~15% downside from current levels - still above our Bear case as we think any restrictions are unlikely to affect long-term growth.
Revised PT of Rs5,182 (Rs5,212 previously): We lower our F27-F29 earnings by 4- 5%, as we lower F27 Tanishq, Mia and Zoya revenue growth to 18% (vs 20% earlier) to adjust for the custom duty hike announced.

Share market live: Folks Funds Appoints Gaurav Kumar Tiwari as Principal to Strengthen India’s First ESG-Led Category II AIF Platform
The appointment supports Folks Funds’ ambition to create supply chains as an investable asset class for institutional investors, domestic HNIs and UHNIs, while channelising long-term capital into India’s new energy economy
New Delhi, 21st May: Folks Funds, India’s first ESG-led Category II Alternate Investment Fund focused on transition-linked real assets, has announced the appointment of Gaurav Kumar Tiwari as Principal. The appointment marks an important step in Folks Funds’ next phase of growth, as the firm strengthens its investment platform focused on creating supply chains as an asset class and building an ESG-aligned capital markets layer for India’s energy transition economy.
Folks Funds is part of the broader Folks Corporation ecosystem, which brings together Folks Motor, Folks Finance, Folks Funds, Folks Federation and Folks Foundation into one integrated platform across physical assets, credit, capital markets, sovereign partnerships and ecological impact. The group’s larger thesis is built around creating a full-stack transition ecosystem where assets, finance, institutional capital and policy alignment compound together to accelerate India’s green economy.
India’s transition towards cleaner mobility, energy storage, industrial decarbonisation, advanced manufacturing and climate infrastructure is creating a significant capital allocation opportunity. However, the real challenge lies in building investable, scalable and institutionally governed assets that can absorb long-term domestic and global capital. Folks Funds is addressing this gap by structuring supply chains, transition assets and green infrastructure opportunities into an investable platform for institutional investors, domestic HNIs and UHNIs.

Commodities: OIL: THE GREAT TUG OF WAR
By Norbert Rücker, Head Economics and Next Generation Research, Julius Baer
Observing the oil market feels like watching a tug of war tournament. Escalation concerns have dissipated again, and trade through Hormuz shows some signs of life. While the dealmaking aspirations of the United States and Iran remain fogged, bilateral agreements between oil sellers, oil buyers, and Iran might explain the Hormuz traffic pickup. Politics aside, the oil market has moved past the initial shock reaction and has settled in a regime of deficit absorption by inventory draws. There is breathing room to deal with the supply shock beyond the summer. Our views are unchanged; the current crisis should follow the historical pattern of a short-lived but intense price shock.

Stock market updates: BPCL Strengthens Fuel Supply Continuity Across India’s Smaller Towns and Regional Markets Amid Demand Surge
Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), a Fortune Global 500 company and a Maharatna PSU, today said that it has intensified fuel supply and distribution operations across smaller towns, semi-urban markets and regional geographies to ensure uninterrupted availability of petrol and diesel amid the recent rise in demand witnessed across parts of the country.
While metropolitan centres continue to remain adequately supplied, BPCL said special operational focus has also been placed on maintaining seamless supplies across Tier-2, Tier-3 and remote markets, where localised demand spikes and precautionary buying tendencies have been observed in recent days.
The company stated that the current increase in fuel demand has been driven by multiple market factors, including higher diesel consumption during the ongoing harvesting season, increased customer preference towards PSU retail outlets in certain markets, as well as shifts in purchasing patterns across customer segments amid prevailing market conditions.
BPCL’s integrated supply chain network — comprising refineries, terminals, depots, transport logistics and retail outlets — continues to operate efficiently, supported by round-the-clock monitoring and enhanced coordination between regional teams and field operations.

Commodities update: Oil prices gain as investors doubt breakthrough in US-Iran peace talks
Oil prices climbed on Friday as investors doubted the prospects of a breakthrough in U.S.-Iran peace talks, with the two sides still at loggerheads on Tehran’s uranium stockpile and controls on the Strait of Hormuz. The market, however, remained headed for a weekly loss.
A senior Iranian source told Reuters no deal has been reached with the U.S. but the gaps have narrowed, while U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said there had been “some good signs” in talks but any toll system in the strait would be unacceptable.
Brent crude futures rose $2.38, or 2.3%, to $104.96 a barrel by 0034 GMT, and U.S. West Texas Intermediate futures were up $1.73, or 1.8%, at $98.08. - Reuters
