Sonam Wangchuk Parliament Protest Live Updates: The Delhi Police registered an FIR over the violence, vandalism and alleged attacks on police personnel during the massive ‘Sansad Chalo’ protest led by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) on Monday. Authorities have initiated legal action against unidentified persons following Monday’s clashes in Connaught Place, even as the protest movement signalled it would continue pressing its demands through negotiations with the Centre on Day 2.

Police said protesters allegedly pelted stones at a police team near Regal Cinema in the Outer Circle of Connaught Place during Monday’s demonstration. The case has been filed against unidentified persons.

The agitation, which gained nationwide attention after education reform activist Sonam Wangchuk joined the movement’s hunger strike, has now entered a crucial phase with police action continuing alongside back-channel talks between protest leaders and the Centre.

Meanwhile, the Cockroach Janta Party maintained that its movement has achieved a significant breakthrough following a delegation meeting with Union Minister JP Nadda. He added that the invitation for discussions itself represented a major victory for the movement and said the government had assured the delegation that their demands would be examined before responding.

The latest developments come a day after thousands of protesters marched towards Parliament demanding Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation.

The protest witnessed clashes, tear gas shelling, allegations of excessive force by police, counter-allegations of violence by protesters, detentions, and widespread disruption across central Delhi. Political leaders across party lines weighed in as Parliament proceedings were repeatedly disrupted over the issue.
