Indian equity markets traded firm on Friday noon trade, supported by strong global cues and overnight gains across US and Asian markets.
At 1:20 p.m., the BSE Sensex was up 761 points at 77,393, while the NSE Nifty gained 223 points to 23,998.
Analysts note that while immediate escalation risks have eased, lack of clarity on long-term stability is keeping investors defensive.
PL Asset Management highlighted rising macro risks from crude oil, currency weakness, and global slowdown concerns, while Emkay Global pointed to a potential energy-led catalyst if geopolitical tensions ease. Market direction is expected to remain event-driven, with crude oil trends, geopolitical developments, and FII flows acting as key triggers in the near term.

Key indicators for today’s trade
* BANK NIFTY TODAY: Breakout watch at 56,000: A sustained move above 56,000 is crucial; it can trigger a sharp rally towards 56,500 in the near term, backed by strong buying interest and broad-based participation.
* Immediate support at 55,400: This level is key to holding the bullish structure. A break below 55,400 could weaken momentum and drag the index towards 54,900, shifting the near-term outlook negative.
* Nifty today: Make-or-break level at 24,020: A decisive breakout above 24,020 can trigger fresh momentum, opening upside targets of 24,300 and 24,500–24,600 in the near term.
* Strong support base at 23,730–23,640: This zone remains critical for downside protection; a break below 23,640 could shift sentiment negative and drag Nifty towards 23,300, though such a move looks unlikely.
* Global cues: Strong US close and firm Asian markets support a positive opening.
* Crude oil watch: Oil remains the key risk factor due to geopolitical tensions.
* FII flow pressure: Continued foreign selling is limiting upside momentum.
* Rupee trend: Currency weakness keeps sentiment cautious for global investors.
* Volatility check: Stable volatility supports uptrend, spike signals profit booking.
* Market structure: Post rally consolidation continues near resistance zones.
* Geopolitics factor: News flow remains the biggest trigger for sharp moves.
* Sector focus: Banks drive the index, oil sensitive stocks react to crude, exporters track rupee.
* Buzzing stocks today: Nine stocks including Wipro, Poonawalla Fincorp, Prestige Estates, Amagi Media Lab, Ashiana Housing, Steel Exchange India, GHV Infra Projects, Emerald Finance and Yashtej Industries will be in focus on Friday amid key corporate developments.

Rupee drops 17 paise to close at 92.68 against US dollar
The rupee pared initial gains and settled for the day 17 paise lower at 92.68 (provisional) against the US dollar on Friday, weighed down by risks from rising global tensions, especially the US-Iran conflict.
Forex traders said the rupee witnessed high volatility as the deadline for the RBI’s instructions to banks to curb their overnight positions to $100 million closes on Friday amid heightened geopolitical uncertainty

Post-market analysis by Gaurav Udani, Founder - ThinCredBlu Securities
“Nifty continued its upward momentum, closing around 24,050, up nearly 270 points, indicating strong follow-through buying after the recent consolidation.
The index sustained above key levels through the session, reinforcing the positive structure and suggesting that dips are being actively bought. This move keeps the bullish momentum intact in the short term.
Technically, Nifty is now approaching the 24,100–24,200 resistance zone. A decisive move above this range could trigger further upside towards higher levels. On the downside, immediate support shifts higher to the 23,800–23,900 zone, which needs to hold to maintain the current strength.
The overall trend remains positive, and the market continues to reward a buy on dips strategy.
Going ahead, traders should watch how the index behaves near resistance, while staying cautious of any global cues that could influence sentiment.”

Industry update
Umesh Sharma, CIO-Debt, The Wealth Company Mutual on March AMFI data:
Debt-oriented schemes recorded net outflows of ₹2,94,987 crore in March 2026, largely driven by significant redemptions from funds with maturities of less than one year. Such outflows at the shorter end of the curve are a recurring seasonal trend, as March coincides with both quarter-end and financial year-end liquidity requirements, a pattern observed consistently each year
Duration-focused categories also remained under pressure, with most continuing to witness net outflows. The risk–reward balance in these segments appears unfavourable amid elevated geopolitical uncertainty, which has pushed energy prices higher and exerted upward pressure on yields, resulting in mark-to-market impacts on investor portfolios. Corporate Bond Funds saw outflows of nearly ₹15,000 crore, extending the weakness seen in previous months, as investors reassessed mark-to-market sensitivity within high-quality duration strategies.
Equity-oriented schemes recorded healthy net inflows of nearly ₹40,000 crore in March, around 40% higher than the previous month, as the post-correction phase in equity markets following the onset of the West Asia conflict created more attractive investment opportunities. While Flexi Cap funds continued to attract steady inflows, categories such as small-cap and mid-cap funds witnessed stronger allocations compared to earlier months, reflecting increased investor interest in segments where valuations had moderated and return potential appeared more favourable.
Hybrid schemes, however, reported net outflows of nearly ₹16,500 crore, largely driven by Arbitrage Funds, which alone saw outflows of around ₹21,000 crore. In contrast, Multi-Asset Allocation Funds recorded inflows of over ₹5,000 crore, indicating a preference for diversified asset allocation strategies amid heightened global uncertainty. Other ETF categories witnessed strong inflows, largely supported by sustained equity-related investments. In contrast, inflows into Gold ETFs moderated to around ₹2,000 crore in March, lower than levels seen in previous months, probably as relative valuations became more favourable toward equities compared with gold.
Overall, March flows reflect a clear tilt toward growth-oriented assets, with equities attracting higher allocations as market corrections created attractive entry points. At the same time, fixed income witnessed sharp redemptions, largely due to seasonal year-end liquidity needs and concerns around inflation and yield volatility. Together, these trends underscore an investor preference for maximizing return potential while remaining cautious on duration and interest rate risk in a globally uncertain environment

Vaibhav Chugh, CEO, Abakkus Mutual Fund on the ‘AMFI Data’
The MF flows for the m/o March are reaffirming that the investors in India have matured a lot. Every correction is seen as an opportunity rather than a reason to exit and thus such phenomenal growth in equity flows. The distributors and advisors have also been guiding in turbulent times. Even the growth in SIP flows is commensurate with this fact.
Flexicap funds are best suited as the fund manager can maneuver across market-caps thus making them more dynamic and for that investors have been increasing allocation to this category. Am elated to see the increased maturity of Indian investors as they have been proactive in looking at how valuations are moving and allocating accordingly. Despite of low performance from small caps in past sometime, investors have added allocations as they have realized that valuations there have corrected below their peaks and last 10-year averages. Though there are new outflows from liquid and arbitrage however that must be attributed to year end requirements, in my view

Even though from feb 26 to mar 26 we have seen an increase in the equity collection on a year on year basis we have seen a drop by nearly 17% . Flexicap funds has received the highest amount 25-26 despite having underperformance as most funds are sticking more to largecaps.
Debt funds have had a very muted year with collections dropping nearly 84% from last year. Taxation has played a very pivotal role in the investors mind while looking at debt funds. FY27 may augur well for debt funds.
Hybrid funds is the only category to have increased net collection in FY 25-26 where multi asset has been stellar performer with investors being more conservative and taking exposure even to gold. Arbitrage funds are now taking the brunt due to expectations of lower returns due to increase in STT charges.

Equity markets staged a strong recovery in March 26, with domestic flows reflecting renewed investor confidence despite global turbulence
Mr. Viraj Gandhi, CEO, SAMCO Mutual Fund
In March, equity-oriented funds recorded inflows that were 42% higher than the one-year average, with total net inflows of ₹40,450 crores against an average of ₹28,586 crores. Despite continued geopolitical headwinds and global risk-off sentiment, domestic investors used the market correction as an opportunity to deploy capital, signalling growing comfort with current valuations for long-term wealth creation.
Broad-based strength across market cap categories underscored this conviction. Flexi Cap category led at ₹10,054 crores (+38% vs. average), while Mid Cap category (+44%), Small Cap category (+45%), Large & Mid Cap category (+47%), and Large Cap category (+46%) all meaningfully exceeded their 12-month averages. Value/Contra Funds category (+87%) and Focused Funds category (+83%) saw particularly sharp upticks, suggesting investors were actively hunting for beaten-down potential opportunities.
Hybrid funds saw a sharp net reversal, driven largely by Arbitrage Fund category outflows of ₹21,114 crores — mostly a predictable financial year-end phenomenon. Multi Asset Allocation Funds category remained consistent with their 12-month average at ₹5,213 crores. However, Balanced Advantage Funds turned negative at −₹283 crores and Aggressive Hybrid slowed to ₹995 crores, suggesting capital may have rotated directly into pure equity as investors grew more comfortable with valuations.
On the passive and bullion front, Other ETFs (₹19,802 cr, +109%) and Index Funds (₹8,169 cr, +261%) posted exceptional numbers. Gold ETFs, however, saw a notable slowdown to ₹2,266 crores, a sharp 57% decline versus the 12-month average.

Commodity commentary: Gaurav Garg, research analyst at Lemonn markets desk
In today’s commodity market update, gold prices have slightly declined to around ₹1,51,000 per 10 grams, reflecting mild profit booking, while silver has seen a sharper correction, trading near ₹2,50,000–₹2,60,000 per kg, down over 1%.
These movements come after a recent rally in precious metals, as investors turned cautious amid a stronger US dollar and mixed global cues. Sentiment has also been influenced by ongoing geopolitical uncertainty, particularly around US–Iran tensions and concerns over potential disruptions in key oil supply routes.
Conversely, crude oil prices have edged higher, supported by supply-side worries and geopolitical risks, keeping overall commodity market volatility elevated.

Coal India is absorbing the price shock insulating India’s coal users from escalating cost burden. Any pass through of the mounting prices would lead to a cascading effect. Brokerages split on India: CLSA turns bullish after 18 months, Macquarie cautious, Jefferies flags risks
CLSA Equity Strategy - Vikas Jain
After 18 months of being bearish, we turn constructive on Indian stocks
We may have surpassed the “maximum pain” point regarding both the Iran conflict and its impact on the market. With sentiment reaching extreme bearishness and valuations (on both an absolute and relative basis) trading below 10-year averages, we argue that risk-reward profile for Indian equities has finally balanced after 18 months of being unfavourable. Downside protection strategy helped our portfolio to outperform Nifty by 6ppt in last quarter. We now move toward capturing upside and make a slew of changes to our portfolio.
Portfolio Changes
We exit ITC in favour of Varun Beverages and from Bajaj Auto to Mahindra & Mahindra
We expect a better post-war set-up for Vedanta over Ultratech Cement.
We see L&T as a post-war recovery play and bring it in place of the defensive NTPC
We see better risk-reward in Bajaj Finance than IndusInd Bank
We raise O-WT on financials and cut IT to U-WT by swapping Tech Mahindra for HDFC Bank
We continue to hold ICICI Bank, SBI, ONGC, Tata Motors (CV + PV), Infosys, DMart, Eternal and Godrej Properties in our portfolio.

Stock recommendation: Brokerage Houses on TCS
Kotak Inst Eqt on TCS
Buy, TP Rs 3100
Delivered an in-line quarter, aided by improved momentum in the international business and stable profitability.
Bookings were strong and included three mega deals.
TCS appears to be moving out of a patch of unusual underperformance, driven by BSNL deal ramp-down, insourcing and program completions.
Stock price has declined by 19% in past year, underperforming peers during a cyclically weak phase.
FY2027 should see a meaningful narrowing of the growth differential with peers.
GenAI readiness is also becoming more visible through targeted workforce interventions, broader AI investments and a sharper consulting push
Remain constructive & raise EPS by 3% on revised currency assumptions.
CITI On TCS
Sell, TP Rs 2250
Reported inline Q4 EBIT; FY26 revenues -2.4% yoy cc.
Forward looking indicators –
(a) TTM TCV +3.6% yoy;
(b) Headcount -4% yoy; (c) Management commentary – Getting into next year with positivity & confidence; they see a regular Q1 and Q2.
Expect low single-digit revenue growth to continue
Debate is likely to continue – TCS Q4/commentary had data points supporting both the bullish and bearish views
GS on TCS
Buy, TP Rs 2710
4QFY26 had no major surprises.
Key positives
(i) positive sequential revenue growth across all but one vertical;
(ii) Strong deal wins in 4Q, including 3 mega deals;
(iii) Modest headcount growth and earlier than expected wage hike;
(iv) company calling out growth in mid/large-sized accounts with early signs of stability;
(v) no discernible negative impact of AI on revenue growth, though re-investment to build capabilities is causing potential margin drag.
A few negatives
(i) No improvement in growth momentum, with +0.8% qoq organic growth for 3 quarters in a row;
(ii) Miss to guidance of better FY26 vs FY25 for int’l markets, with two consecutive years of close to 0% revenue growth and limited color on FY27 growth outlook;
(iii) Limited margin expansion despite strong Fx tailwinds.
CLSA on TCS
O-P, TP Rs 2985
4QFY26 was largely in line on revenues and Ebit margins and slightly better on order booking QoQ but not YoY given 4Q renewal seasonality.
Gen AI revenue at an annualised US$2.3bn, up 28% QoQ and 7.5% of overall revenue, implies AI should be a net tailwind in the medium to long term
On Middle East (ME) crisis, impact is limited to ME geography and travel vertical up to now, and c. 0.8% CC QoQ organic revenue growth in 4Q (like 2Q/3Q) does imply a still volatile macro at this juncture.
An attractive FCF yield of 6% (even higher than the Covid bottom) and a steep discount to Indian IT peers on valuations keeps us O-PF
JPM on TCS
OW, TP Rs 3150
Delivered a solid 4Q with a small revenue beat, stable margins, & strong deal wins, while commentary points to gradual improvement into FY27
International growth improved to 2% CC YY, demand is stabilising across Consumer, HiTech and Europe, with BFSI resilient and telecom showing early signs of recovery
Strong signings at $12bn and improving conversion support a better setup into FY27 as management sounds more confident.
AI revenues were up 28% QQ to 7.5% of revenues.
EBIT margins expanded ~10bps QoQ
Crucially, TCS continues to return 80–100% of FCF via dividends and buybacks, offering strong downside support
At 16.5x/15.5x FY27/28E, the stock trades ~2SD below its historical multiple and at a discount to peers despite superior cash returns and margin resilience.
HSBC on TCS
Hold, TP Rs 2755
Reported a decent quarter in context of widespread pessimism around the IT sector
Think stronger exit-rate & improvement in demand outlook positions it well for a relatively better FY27 over FY26
Expect mid to low-single-digit long-term revenue growth

U-P, TP Rs 2275
Mar-26 qtr revenue was in line, though margins missed estimates.
Weak growth in BFSI, flat YoY deal bookings & AI-led revenue deflation due to higher exposure to application managed services should keep growth in check
Margins are expected to remain range bound in absence of strong revenue growth
Rise estimates by 2% due to Fx & expect a subdued 5.5% EPS CAGR over FY26-29.
INCRED on TCS
ADD, TP cut to Rs 3052 from Rs 3663 earlier
4QFY26 revenue growth & EBIT margin were modestly better than estimates.
Demand environment commentary was cautious.
North America (NA) & FSI LTM bookings’ growth was weak/tepid
INR deprecation helps sustain EBIT margin
DAM Cap on TCS
Neutral, TP Rs 2670
FY26 revenue declined 2.4% YoY CC, impacted by macro weakness, high BSNL base, & AI-led deflation.
FY27 should improve on the back of a strong order book, easing macro headwinds, and possible support from BSNL phase 2.
However, AI revenues are likely to take time to offset ongoing AI-led deflation, keeping growth in low single digits over next two years
Model 4.0% growth in FY27 & 5.3% in FY28
Despite a 190bps currency tailwind in FY26 and absence of lower margin BSNL deal, margin expansion was limited to 70bps, highlighting execution and investment drag
With continued AI investments, deal transition costs, and 1QFY27 wage-hike headwind of 150–200bps, margins are likely to remain range-bound
Expect 7% EPS CAGR for FY26-28E. (partially driven by currency).

Nifty outlook: Positive bias above 23,700; buy on dips favored amid resistance near 24,200
Gaurav Udani, Founder - Thincredblu Securities Ltd., “Nifty is expected to open slightly higher around 23,850, up nearly 80 points, indicating a positive start after yesterday’s healthy correction.
The index continues to hold above key support levels, suggesting that the overall structure remains constructive. As long as 23,700 is sustained, the bias stays positive with potential for a gradual move towards the 24,100–24,200 zone.
On the downside, 23,700–23,750 will act as immediate support, while resistance is seen around 24,000–24,200.
The setup favors a buy on dips approach, rather than chasing momentum at higher levels. Traders should remain selective and wait for better risk-reward entries during intraday pullbacks.
Overall, the trend remains intact, but price action near resistance will be key to watch for further directional clarity.”

Sector in focus : IT
ADRs of Infosys and Wipro declined in US trading, reflecting subdued sentiment towards Indian IT stocks following the March quarter results of TCS. Infosys ADRs dropped 2.6%, while Wipro ADRs were down about 1-2% on the NYSE, indicating a potentially soft start for the sector.
TCS announced its Q4FY26 earnings after market hours. It delivered a broadly in-line performance. In constant currency terms, revenue grew 1.2% QoQ, slightly ahead of street expectations and the IT firm’s strongest sequential growth in seven quarters.
Net profit rose 29% QoQ to ₹13,718 crore matching estimates. Revenue increased 5% QoQ to ₹70,698 crore. The company declared a final dividend of ₹31 per share. Despite the steady numbers, ADR reactions suggest investors remain cautious on near-term demand visibility and global macro conditions.
Separately, Wipro’s board will consider a share buyback on April 16, its first such move in nearly three years. The company last executed a ₹12,000 crore buyback in June 2023, repurchasing 26.96 crore shares at ₹445 apiece.

Bitcoin holds above $71,900; investors adopt wait-and-watch approach amid geopolitical uncertainty
“Bitcoin is holding above the $71,900, as the recent ceasefire-driven rally shows signs of cooling while still maintaining key support levels. After briefly reclaiming $72,000 on the back of easing U.S.–Iran tensions, price action has stabilised, reflecting a pause rather than a reversal in trend.
At the same time, broader macro conditions are continuing to support Bitcoin’s positioning. Weakening dollar dynamics, persistent inflation concerns, and ongoing institutional inflows are strengthening confidence in Bitcoin’s long-term value and supply dynamics, helping it sustain above the $70,000 level despite short-term volatility.
However, the market remains highly sensitive to geopolitical developments, with uncertainty around the durability of the ceasefire acting as a key overhang. Any escalation could reintroduce downside pressure, with $68,000 emerging as an important support level, while the upside remains capped near the $74,000–$75,000 range in the near term.
From an investor’s perspective, the current environment suggests a wait-and-watch approach, where participants are closely tracking macro cues and geopolitical signals. While near-term volatility may persist, the ability of Bitcoin to hold key support levels and attract steady inflows indicates underlying confidence, with investors likely positioning gradually for a potential breakout once uncertainty eases.” - Avinash Shekhar, Co-Founder & CEO, Pi42

Nifty outlook: 23,660 key support for bullish momentum; path open to 24,250 if held
Vikram Kasat, Head Advisory, PL Capital
The size of the drawdown that we’ve seen in equity markets, probably doesn’t feel big enough relative to the move and the shock that we saw in energy markets, but I think that’s reflective of a view that energy prices are likely to come down
Our base case is one where energy prices continue to gradually move lower over the next three to six months.
We take a little bit of a hit to growth, a little bit of a pickup in inflation, but overall, that’s still a very constructive environment for equities, particularly as we get into earnings season, which we think will be really positive.
Nifty 23775.10
23660 remains the key support—holding above this level keeps the bullish momentum intact and opens the path toward 24250
A breakdown below 23660 could lead to gap filling, dragging the index toward the 23200 zone.

Foreign institutional investors remained net sellers to the tune of approximately ₹1,711 crore in the previous session, while domestic institutional investors provided partial support with inflows of around ₹956 crore. India VIX closed at 20.4275, signalling elevated uncertainty and expectations of continued intraday swings.

IT stocks drag markets
The IT sector was the biggest drag on the indices. TCS fell 1.78 per cent to ₹2,543 after reporting its January–March quarter results.
