Tamil Nadu SIR 2026: How to check your name in final voter list

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has published the final electoral roll of voters in Tamil Nadu on Monday (February 23, 2025), after carrying out the much-debated Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise. This assumes significance as the State is just months away from Assembly elections.

The Chief Electoral Officer of Tamil Nadu, Archana Patnaik, said there are 5,67,07,380 electors across the State, as per the final electoral roll. The number of electors in the age group of 18-19 years is 12.51 lakh and senior citizen electors (85 plus) are 3.99 lakh.

The assembly constituency with the highest number of electors is 27-Shozhinganallur constituency in Chengalpattu district with 5,36,991 electors.

The final voter roll was initially scheduled for release on February 17 but was later postponed to February 23.

How to find your name in the voter list?

Voters can easily access the final electoral roll online through the official websites of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO)-elections.tn.gov.in- of Tamil Nadu. Here’s a step-by-step guide:

1. Through Tamil Nadu elections website

- Users should go to the section labelled ‘Final publication of Electoral Roll- SIR 2026’

- Select the state, which in this case is Tamil Nadu.

- Specify ‘2026’ as the year of revision to ensure the most current data is accessed.

- Choose ‘Final Roll- 2026’ as the roll type to focus on the correct electoral roll.

- Enter the details of the district, Assembly constituency, and select a language preference, either Tamil or English.

- Depending on the changes in polling booth designations, voters should select the appropriate part name or polling booth. This step is particularly important as part numbers may have been updated in some areas.

- Once the necessary selections are made, voters can download the final roll in PDF format, allowing them to search for their names directly.

2. Checking with Booth Level Officers (BLOs):

For those who do not have easy access to the internet, the final electoral roll can also be checked through the Booth Level Officers (BLOs). These officials are responsible for maintaining the voter list at the ground level and can provide assistance in verifying voter enrollment status.

3. Through the ECINET mobile application (can also be used to find the new part number in case of change)
