The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has completed the tender process for the Regional Ring Road and expansion of the Hyderabad-Vijayawada highway.

NHAI chairman Santosh Kumar said the works on the two projects is set to begin soon. He was interacting with Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy during a meeting between the two on Sunday. The meeting underscores Telangana’s push to accelerate infrastructure upgrades, reduce accident-prone stretches, and strengthen connectivity for economic and industrial growth.

It focussed on critical highway projects across the State including the two projects for which tenders were completed. Mr. Venkat Reddy urged the NHAI to expedite widening of the NH-65 into an 8-lane corridor expressed concern that the existing road had become a “death road” due to frequent accidents.

The Minister briefed Mr. Santosh Kumar about the Telangana Government’s plan to construct a 7.1 km double decker elevated corridor between L.B. Nagar and Hayatnagar and said a detailed project report was already submitted to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways in this regard. He also took several other pending projects to the notice of the NHAI chairman underlining the importance of their completion to Telangana’s growth.

He wanted all the projects under NHAI’s supervision to be completed quickly to ensure that they contributed effectively to the State’s development.
