The passport will be available to applicants who make an in-person appointment at the Washington Passport Agency in Washington, D.C., or those who make an in-person appointment at a 250th Anniversary commemorative passport application event at select passport offices.

The State Department lists 28 passport offices across a handful of states that will host passport application events.

There will be “additional opportunities” to apply for a commemorative passport, the State Department said.

The limited commemorative passport will be available Aug. 8.

What States Have Offices Offering The Trump’s “Patriot Passport”?

States with one or multiple offices offering the commemorative passport include Arkansas, Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Georgia, Hawaii, Illinois, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minneapolis, Pennsylvania, New Hampshire, New York, South Carolina, Texas, Vermont and Washington. The commemorative passport, which features Trump leaning over the Resolute Desk, sparked assumptions among some users on social media platforms like Reddit that it would be the new default passport. Some shared a workaround for those applying for a passport at the Washington Passport Agency, encouraging those who did not want the president’s image on their travel document to request large format passport books, which have 52 pages and instead use the default design. However, the passport’s release will remain relatively limited even with the expanded availability. The commemorative passport is one of several instances where Trump has attempted to incorporate his image or name in a way that would mark a major change to an official government-issued item. The president’s portrait was added to National Parks passes early this year, while members of his administration have pushed for Trump’s face and signature to be featured on a new $250 bill. Trump’s full name was also added to the signage on the John F. Kennedy Memorial Center for the Performing Arts. However, his name was struck from the building after a federal judge ruled the venue could only be renamed with congressional approval.
