Violence erupted in Kolkata Park Circus during a protest against anti encroachment drive, protesters allegedly hurled stones at police, injuring officers and vandalising vehicles.

Violence broke out in the Park Circus area of Kolkata during a protest against an anti-encroachment drive after a section of protesters allegedly pelted stones at police personnel opposing the bulldozer action against alleged illegal encroachments.

Several police personnel were injured in the incident, while vehicles parked along the roadside, including those carrying central forces, were vandalised.

Heavy deployment of police and central forces was made in the area, and a route march was conducted to maintain law and order.
