Actor-turned-politician and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief Vijay on Monday asserted that the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections would be a direct political showdown between him and Chief Minister MK Stalin, as he addressed party administrators at a key organisational meeting in Vellore district.
The event was held at Agaramcheri village near the Pallikonda toll plaza on the Chennai-Bengaluru Highway (NH-48), as part of the party’s preparations ahead of the Assembly elections.
Entry to the event was restricted to 4,900 participants carrying QR-code passes, while more than 900 police personnel were deployed to maintain security arrangements.
“In the Tamil Nadu elections, the competition is between Vijay and Stalin," Vijay said, adding, “Tamil Nadu is Vijay, Vijay is Tamil Nadu. The war is between TVK and DM."
Setting the tone of his address and positioning the upcoming polls as a decisive political contest, Vijay added that the election would be a “historic" and “miracle election" for the state.
Continuing his criticism of the ruling government, Vijay alleged that Tamil Nadu was currently being governed by a “fake model government" and described it as a “stand-up comedy state government."

He also termed the administration a “good-for-nothing ulta model government," accusing it of failing to deliver on its promises.
Calling for electoral mobilisation, Vijay said, “This election is the whistle revolution election," urging party workers to protect their votes and rally behind the party’s election symbol.
“Our vote, our rights, no one can take away our votes. Our vote is for the whistle symbol. We will never allow anyone to grab our votes, it’s true," he said.
He further alleged that the DMK government had misled the public.
“MK Stalin has given fake promises and is cheating people. This election is with the Tamil Nadu people and against the DMK government. The competition is between the Tamil Nadu people and Stalin sir," Vijay said, reiterating his attack on the ruling party.
Promising direct engagement with voters if elected to power, Vijay told supporters, “After we form a government in Tamil Nadu, I will personally meet everyone and go to every district and village to meet my people."
He also assured cadres that TVK would honour its commitments and would not deviate from its promises.
The administrators’ meeting was organised ahead of the Assembly polls as part of TVK’s efforts to strengthen its organisational structure.
Party leaders, including senior functionaries, reviewed preparations at the venue and urged that only invited individuals attend the programme, noting that the event would be broadcast for supporters unable to be present.
The gathering drew significant attention as supporters assembled along Vijay’s route earlier in the day to catch a glimpse of the actor-politician heading toward Vellore.
