West Bengal Cabinet 2026: From Dilip Ghosh to Agnimitra Paul, Ministers who were sworn in along with Suvendu Adhikari

With Suvendu Adhikari being sworn in as the Chief Minister of West Bengal after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured a sweeping victory with 207 seats in the 294-member Assembly, the newly formed government inducted five fresh faces into the State’s Cabinet on Saturday (May 9, 2026).

The grand swearing-in ceremony, held at Kolkata’s iconic Brigade Parade Ground, witnessed the presence of several top BJP leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Ministers Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, J. P. Nadda, and Dharmendra Pradhan. Few BJP Chief Ministers, including Manik Saha of Tripura, Himanta Biswa Sarma of Assam, Rekha Gupta of Delhi, Yogi Adityanath of Uttar Pradesh, Madan Lal Sharma of Rajasthan, Mohan Yadav of Madhya Pradesh, and Pushkar Singh Dhami, also graced the ceremony.

Mr. Adhikari sealed massive electoral victory from both Nandigram and Bhabanipur, winning by margins of over 9,500 and 15,000 votes respectively. His electoral victory in Bhabanipur added further significance as he defeated incumbent Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. In Nandigram, Mr. Adhikari routed his rival All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) candidate Pabitra Kar by a comfortable majority, once considered his loyal aide.

Below is the list of Cabinet Ministers inducted into the BJP government in West Bengal today:

  1. Dilip Ghosh: A senior BJP leader and former West Bengal BJP president, Dilip Ghosh was inducted into the State Cabinet on Saturday (May 9). He secured victory in 2026 West Bengal Assemby polls from Kharagpur seat by defeating the rival TMC candidate by over 30,000 votes. Widely recognised for expanding the party’s outreach in West Bengal, Mr. Ghosh played a decisive role in gaining BJP’s footprint from 2019. Previously, Mr. Ghosh has acted as the BJP’s West Bengal unit chief between 2015 and 2021 — a period which witnessed BJP becoming a reckoning force in the State. He was elected as MP from Medinipur in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
  2. Agnimitra Paul: Agnimitra Paul, a fashion designer-turned-legislator, secured victory in Asansol Dakshin seat by 40,839 votes in the 2026 West Bengal Assembly polls. A significant face in West Bengal BJP, she was inducted into the fresh Cabinet on Saturday (May 9). She joined BJP in 2019 after establishing an accomplished career in fashion designing, becoming one of the prominent women leaders in the State. Previously, Ms. Paul has previously served as the president of BJP Mahila Morcha in West Bengal and is currently the party’s State vice-president.
  3. Ashok Kirtania: Ashok Kirtania, a BJP stalwart, gained victory in Bangaon Uttar by 40,670 votes. His appointment into the State cabinet is expected to give a significant boost to Matua community, which plays an imperative role in the state’s electorate. Mr. Kirtania, also secured victory in 2021 Assembly polls from Bangaon seat.
  4. Kshudiram Tudu: A former school teacher, Kshudiram Tudu is the first-time BJP MLA from the tribal-dominated Ranibandh (ST) constituency in Bankura district who was inducted into West Bengal’s new Cabinet. Mr. Tudu, in his stint as a BJP leader, has played a significant role in advocating the party’s promises among tribal communities in Jangalmahal region. He is credited with raising local issues related to tribal rights, rural development, in the tribal populated regions in West Bengal.
  5. Nisith Pramanik: A key face of BJP from North Bengal (party’s stronghold), Mr. Pramanik is former Union Minister of State for Home Affairs and Youth Affairs & Sports. He gained victory from Mathabhanga seat by over 57,000 votes in the recently concluded West Bengal Assembly polls. His induction into West Bengal’s fresh Cabinet is likely to consolidate his supporter base in North Bengal, where BJP enjoys a significant support of youth voters. Mr. Pramanik was a TMC leader prior to joining the BJP in 2019. During the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, he secured a victory from Cooch Behar seat, becoming one of the youngest Ministers in the Narendra Modi Government in the 2021 Cabinet reshuffle.
