Hyderabad:
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will dedicate key railway infrastructure projects worth around ₹1,535 crore in Telangana on Sunday (May 10, 2026), aimed at strengthening rail connectivity, easing congestion and improving operational efficiency on major routes.
Kazipet–Vijayawada multi-tracking project
Among the major projects to be inaugurated are multiple sections of the 118-km Kazipet–Vijayawada multi-tracking project. The project is expected to significantly enhance line capacity on the busy Grand Trunk rail corridor, one of the country’s crucial railway routes.
Railway officials said the multi-tracking project would facilitate faster movement of trains, reduce congestion, improve punctuality and increase freight carrying capacity across the region. The enhanced infrastructure is also expected to support economic activity and improve logistics efficiency in Telangana and neighbouring states.
The Prime Minister will also dedicate the Kazipet Rail Under Bypass to the nation. The strategic project has been designed to decongest the busy Kazipet Junction by enabling simultaneous train movements towards Hyderabad, Balharshah and Vijayawada.
Officials said the bypass would improve operational efficiency, minimise delays and streamline rail traffic management at one of South Central Railway’s key junctions. The projects are part of the Centre’s broader push to modernise railway infrastructure and strengthen transport connectivity across the country, a statement said.
