Pawan Kalyan defends PM Modi, slams Gen Z criticism, cites his “struggles” and leadership; urges restraint, backs him to remain in power for as long as he wants.

Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan on Saturday sought to defend Prime Minister Narendra Modi, questioning criticism from younger sections and highlighting the “struggles" the Prime Minister has endured. His remarks came amid recent protests over the exam paper leak.

Referring to the backlash and alleged abusive remarks directed at Modi by sections of Gen Z protesters, Kalyan said “his (Modi) heart moved, eyes welled with tears and felt bad." Addressing a public meeting after the Prime Minister inaugurated the Rs 5,700-crore Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport at Bhogapuram near Visakhapatnam, Kalyan said, “The more you work, the more you get criticised… what does the new generation know? The struggles he (PM) went through."

Kalyan criticised the tone of attacks on the Prime Minister, saying, as quoted by Press Trust of India (PTI), some had used “unspeakable words". He questioned whether this was the reward “we could give for the people toiling for the country."

He added that Modi “did not take even a single day’s leave", while dealing simultaneously with external threats, “western countries envious of our development" and internal “enemies" to push development forward.

Despite criticism and resistance, Kalyan said one leader continues to carry the aspirations of 144 crore people, calling Modi the “one and only leader."

He further asserted that there is “no leader who can beat PM Modi in the country and nobody will emerge." Even as some continue “abusing" him, Kalyan credited Modi for infrastructure growth, including airports in north Andhra and large-scale investments in the state.

Highlighting the Bhogapuram Airport project, Kalyan said it reflected the benefits of supporting a leader like Modi and linked it to his push for a BJP-TDP alliance.

Against the backdrop of protests, he also offered an “advice" to parents of those under 25, urging them to guide their children and instil the right values.

“I am saluting the feet of such a Prime Minister. Your class is very inspiring," Kalyan said, referring to Modi’s response to criticism.

“It is very difficult to run a family. Is it an ordinary thing to run 140 crore people. Only the leader taking forward will know. What can we give for such a person," he said, calling on people to stand by the Prime Minister.

Kalyan added that power would remain with Modi and that he should step aside only when he “doesn’t desire it," adding, “We will strive," towards that goal.
