YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leader and former Minister Ambati Rambabu was released on bail from the Rajahmundry Central Prison on Wednesday evening after serving the 17-day remand period in connection with two cases.

Mr. Rambabu had been arrested on January 31 for allegedly verbally abusing Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and obstructing the police personnel from discharging their duty during a protest in Guntur. The same day, his house was allegedly attacked by TDP supporters in Guntur city.

On Wednesday, a court in Guntur granted bail to Mr. Rambabu.

Speaking to newsmen after his release, Mr. Rambabu said, “Mr. Naidu and his son Nara Lokesh had orchestrated the attack on my house and family in Guntur on January 31. The police personnel present remained spectators without preventing the attackers.”

Mr. Rambabu said he would continue to question the policies of the government.

“I did not expect any special treatment in prison and served the remand period without any complaints about the facilities. I will speak about the protest and attack on my house and family in the days to come,” he said.

Mr. Rambabu was received by former Ministers Ch. Venugopala Krishna and Thaneti Vanitha, and MLAs Jakkampudi Raja and Chirla Jaggireddy.
