Bajaj Finance touched an 8-month high of Rs 1,074.40 on the NSE on Tuesday, after a strong Q1 update on loans and customer growth.
The company’s assets under management grew 23.9% year on year to Rs 5.46 lakh crore as of 30 June, according to the update released earlier this month.
Bajaj Finance also added a record 5.1 million new customers during the quarter, taking its total customer base to 124.4 million.
Its deposit book grew too, closing the quarter at Rs 68,500 crore. The next big trigger for the stock is already on the calendar.
Bajaj Finance will hold its board meeting and full Q1 earnings call on 30 July, where investors will get the complete set of results along with management’s guidance for the rest of the year.
The company had earlier trimmed its growth targets for the year, aiming for AUM growth of 22% to 24%, down from its usual 25% to 30% range.
It is also targeting 15 million to 17 million new customers for the full year, a more cautious pace than before, as it keeps a closer eye on asset quality.
Tuesday’s move also extends a longer winning run. This is the stock’s fifth straight session of gains, and its seventh in the last eight sessions.
Bajaj Finance shares are up 7% so far this month, on top of a 16% rise in June. That is the first time since September-October last year that the stock has posted back-to-back months of gains.
As of 12:24 pm on 21 July, the stock was trading at Rs 1,067.90 on the NSE, up 0.37% from the previous close of Rs 1,064.
It’s now closing in on its 52-week high of Rs 1,102.50, hit in October last year, and well clear of its 52-week low of Rs 787.90 touched in March.
