Bengaluru Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh spoke to News 18 and talked about several issues regarding law and order in the city. Stating that women and children are Bengaluru Police’s top priority, Singh issued a warning to auto and taxi drivers who misbehave and even assault passengers and stated that strict action will be taken against the culprits.

“With the rise in cases of physical and verbal assaults by auto and cab drivers in Bengaluru — it’s a warning to taxi and auto drivers — we are watching you. Nothing goes unwatched, and we have taken strict action as well," the Bengaluru Police Commissioner said.

Issuing a warning, Singh said, “People in Bengaluru use a lot of cabs and autos for transport — a clear warning to those who take the law into their hands." He further stated that the accused will face serious consequences.

The police officer stated that women and children are Bengaluru police’s priority. “If you are an anti-social element, we will treat you the way you deserve to be treated. If you are law-abiding, you will be safe," he added.

Digital Arrests In Bengaluru

Speaking to News 18, Singh informed that the Bengaluru police cracked a case where 16 people have been arrested for running a fake cyber cell under the guise of a call centre and indulging in illegal activities.

“We are investigating the modus operandi. The offenders are first-timers and don’t even know the consequences of their actions," he added.

Bengaluru Police’s War Against Drugs

Talking about the ongoing Bengaluru Police’s drug war, the Bengaluru Police Commissioner said, “We have opened a war against drugs. Peddlers have been booked, and Bengaluru Police has seized drugs worth Rs 70 crore in the last four months."

“It’s an alarming situation when it comes to drugs and children. We need information to act, and schools and institutions must cooperate. We are doing our best to create awareness and educate the institutions. Confidentiality will be maintained," he added.

He further stated that there has been a decline in crimes in Bengaluru. “I don’t agree with the claim that there have been a large number of murders and kidnappings. We have started Mane Mane Police to sensitise people about policing and emergency numbers," he said.
