The Milwaukee Bucks are set for an unprecedented family reunion this fall — and a historic one at that.

For the first time in NBA history, three brothers will share active roster contracts on the same team, as Giannis, Thanasis, and Alex Antetokounmpo prepare to suit up together for the Bucks in the 2025–26 season.

Bucks Complete Historic Antetokounmpo Trio

The Bucks announced Monday that Alex Antetokounmpo, the youngest of the Antetokounmpo brothers, has signed a two-way contract with Milwaukee, officially joining his siblings Giannis and Thanasis on the roster.

Thanasis, a 2021 NBA champion and long-time bench leader for Milwaukee, recently re-signed with the team on a standard deal.

Giannis, of course, remains the face of the franchise — a two-time MVP, Finals MVP, and nine-time All-NBA selection who continues to define the Bucks’ championship ambitions.

Alex’s Addition Comes with a Roster Shuffle

To make room for Alex, the Bucks waived guard Jamaree Bouyea, according to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype.

Alex has previously played in Lithuania, Montenegro, and Greece, before finding a steady role in the G League with the Raptors 905 and later the Wisconsin Herd.

Over 65 G League games, he’s averaged 5.0 points and 2.6 rebounds, while showing flashes of defensive potential and athleticism reminiscent of his brothers.

Though still considered a technical rookie at the NBA level, Alex now joins Milwaukee with a chance to carve his own role — and make a bit of family and league history in the process.

A Move to Keep Giannis at Home

While the basketball world celebrates this feel-good moment, there’s also a strategic layer to Milwaukee’s decision.

The Bucks’ front office, led by GM Jon Horst, has made several off-season moves aimed at keeping Giannis Antetokounmpo content and committed long-term. After recent roster shakeups — including Damian Lillard’s departure — the team has invested in both continuity and chemistry.

Bringing in his brothers, Thanasis and Alex, sends a clear message: Milwaukee remains loyal to the Antetokounmpo legacy.

What’s Next for Milwaukee

The Bucks’ roster is undergoing a subtle transformation. Veteran newcomers Myles Turner and Cole Anthony are expected to take on key roles, while young prospects Ryan Rollins and Kevin Porter Jr. look to establish themselves.
