Centre Sends Additional 3,000 CAPF Troops For Delhi Till July 27 Amid CJP Protest

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has approved the deployment of an additional 30 companies of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) to assist the Delhi Police in maintaining law and order in the national capital until July 27, 2026, an official who quoted a communication issued by the ministry said.

As per the sources, the decision was taken after considering a request from the Delhi Police, seeking additional CAPF companies to maintain law and order in view of protests at Jantar Mantar. The ministry stated that the deployment has been sanctioned with immediate effect until July 27, 2026.

The troops are to be airlifted from different areas.

Companies have been asked to be equipped with the latest anti-riot equipment and operational scale arms, ammunition, prescribed for the area.

The officer confirmed that the additional 30 CAPF companies comprise 18 CRPF companies, 6 RAF companies, 3 BSF companies, 1 ITBP company and 2 SSB companies.

With this fresh allocation, the total CAPF strength available with the Delhi Police for the purpose will rise to 45 companies.

The ministry has also asked the Delhi Police to ensure adequate arrangements for the accommodation, transportation and other logistical requirements of the deployed CAPF personnel.

Separately, the MHA has directed that the deployment of the seven RAF companies will be in addition to the four CRPF companies and two CRPF platoons already made available for security arrangements during the Monsoon Session of Parliament, as well as the six RAF companies already deployed in Delhi.

Sources said that the deployment of the seven RAF companies already available with the Delhi Police has been extended until July 27, 2026, beyond their earlier deployment period ending July 20, 2026.
